Toughest Villian

So after playing all the villains quite a few times it appears to me that Citizen Dawn is the most challenging.

She is very similar to Lord Voss with the minions, except on average all of hers are about twice as powerful as his. He has Forced Deployment, but her ongoing and one-shots are just vicious. I inevitably flip her a few rounds in and by the time I get her to flip back my heroes HPs are cut in half, and she is close to full health.

I typically play a four man team of Legacy, Tempest, Fanatic, and either Haka or Ra. Same group that I used to bring down Voss pretty handily.

I’m interested to hear what other folks think. Is she the toughest? Am I probably doing it wrong?

You’re not doing it wrong. She’s the toughest.

(this topic shouldn’t be in the Rules and Gameplay section. It’s more of a General discussion)

I often feel Voss’ Advanced mode is tougher than Dawn’s. Not on Advanced Mode, prob dawn is hands down. Voss’ Advanced Mode is just really hard for characters like Fanatic and Tempest.

I figured I’d put it under Rules and Gamplay in case folks brought up strategy or game play mechanics.

I assume it it is still reasonable to take her on with four players right? Any thoughts on team make up?

I haven’t embarked on an advanced rules game yet. Perhaps I’ll get around to that over the weekend.

oh, 4 characters, no advanced mode? You should be fine.

Most characters do perfectly well against dawn. I’d highly reccommend Visionary, Tachyon as well. Fanatic and Ra would round out your team nicely. Tempest would also be a very solid choice.

Take out the most deadly/annoying citizens, leave the rest and hammer Dawn with as much direct damage as you can. Use Visionary to take cards out of the villan trash with Brain Burn or especially Suggestion. If you brought Tempest, Into the Stratosphere is also very helpful, able to put a card back on top of Dawns deck and slow her plays down.

I reccomended the above team partially because all except Ra have ongoing destruction in their deck. You’ll want to have a Blinding Speed/ Consecrated Ground/ Ball Lightning / Mental Divergence available when Dawn starts playing her ongoings, especially Return with the Dawn and Channel the Eclipse.

Ra was reccomended on the basis that he has extremely good direct damage to throw at Dawn, some buffing ability with Imbue Fire, and the ability to make himself or all heroes immune to fire damage with Flesh of the Sun God, which is very handy against both Hammer and Summer.

Other than that, it’s just delay, use Tachyon’s Hypersonic Assault if you’re afraid of taking too much damage, and have Visionary Enlighten Tachyon most turns. Once most of her deck of bursts are in the trash, drop your 3 Lightspeed Barrages on Dawn, and that should be the victory for you.
