Two Player Vengeance

As my boyfriend and I were playing Vengeance yesterday, we noticed a marked lack of reliance on "H," beyond how many villains were in play. Therefore, we *gasp* tried an experiment tonight of the dreaded, unsupported un-house-ruled two player game.

It wasn't bad. The Sentinels and KNYFE took on Frighttrain and Proletariat in the Mobile Defence Platform. A very tight game with little time for building up. Everything came down the wire with lots of tension and no "weird" moments that you can run into with two players in a standard game. KNYFE and two of the Sentinels were knocked out right after Frighttrain went down. A little lucky psychic damage from The Idealist took out Proletariat with only about 6 HP left between Mainstay and the little girl.

All in all, I would probably try it again.

Awesome!  Thanks for the info.

Yeah, the H mechanic is not needed in V5 games because it is automatically scaled via the number of villans to the number of heroes.  Which means, if they add more villans in future expansion for this play mode, it might actually scale to 6 or more players.

As it is, I think the 6 could work right now: Use whatever villain you want with an H of 5, then add one of the V5 to make the H essentialy 6. I haven't tried this out yet, but I am thinking about trying it soon. I think it could also work for other numbers (5 heros: H=4 plus a V5; 4 heroes: H= 3 plus a V5; etc). Could be fun, especially for boosting some of the weaker villains that are often too easy.

Sounds like a good idea I'd try it out, but ain't on the vengeance wagon yet.

Different Environments still use the H mechanic to scale damage, but if you are playing with two heros, making H-2=1 in those cases would probably work out just fine
