I see alot of villain cards have this, ‘draw cards until you find an X card’. but it makes no mention of what to do with all the cards you drew that wasnt what you were looking for. are they discarded, played, or simply shuffled back into the deck?
I would say that they would be shuffled back into the deck or discard pile that the villain drew from. It should say on the card itself but if it soes not that would be how I would handle it…In most cases the Villain will shuffle the discard and draw from that until a certain card is found then all the cards are placed in the discard pile face-up next to the draw deck once more.
Which card are you referring to specifically so we can help you better?
If you are refering to Dawn or Voss, the point is to have them start off with a set of cards in play, but not a specific set. So, whichever were the first so many to come up will be the random set to start with. It does state that after playing those cards, all the other nonqualifying cards are to be shuffled back into the deck.
well there’s several.
of course there is citizen dawn’s example. in particular her villain card itself tells you to start off doing this. from what i see, it seems to imply that you play all the cards revealed this way, all the cards you had to reveal until you found 3 citizen cards. and her card ‘return of the dawn’ does the same thing, except it says specifically ‘put IT into play’, which is of course a singular pronoun therefore it must refer to one card.
omnitron’s ‘self-are robotics factory’ side tells you do do pretty much the same thing as citizen dawn’s ‘return with the dawn’ card.
i havent played against voss yet (btw, the only villain i’ve actually beaten is baron blade, i just cant wrap my head around how to defeat citizen dawn, you basically cant use a hero who needs ongoing cards, and omnitron tends to do the same thing, not to mention he has excessive card advantage) but looking through his deck, i see his card ‘tcf stalwart’ requires you to do this at the end of everyturn, and specifically reads ‘put THEM into play’. it says to search for 2 minions btw, so who knows if this refers to those two minions or all the cards revealed this way. and of course his villain card has you do this at the start of the game just like citizen dawn’s villain card does.
its really confusing, basically its every scenario where it tells you to draw cards until you reveal a certain number of X card (X can be anything, minions for Voss, citizens for Citizen Dawn, and devices and components for Omnitron). it gives no indication of what you’re supposed to do with all the other cards.
In all of these cases, you only put the cards into play that you are specifically told to put into play by the card in question. For example, Citizen Dawn’s character card says:
Shuffle the Villain Deck and draw cards until 3 Citizen cards are revealed. Put them into play. Shuffle the Villain Deck.
In this case, you draw cards until you reveal 3 citizens. Those 3 citizens are put into play, and the rest of the Villain deck (including all of the other cards that you just drew) is shuffled. Only 3 citizens come into play.
The same sort of thing happens on Omnitron’s card. Only the card it explicitly tells you to put into play is put into play.
okay, that solves that problem. thank you. now i just have to figure out how on earth to beat the other three villains, and how on earth to play most of these decks…
