Visionary Questions

Played a game last night against Baron Blade and had two questions come up.

First, does Twist the Ether stay in play after a villain flips or is it destroyed?

Second, the player wanted to play Mental Divergence against Paparazzi On the Scene from the Megalopolis environment.  Twist the Ether says destroy one ongoing card but the Paparazzi card doesn't have the ongoing keyword.  Is it a viable target?

My reasoning was that it had to have the keyword.  They argued that although it doesn't have the ongoing keyword, the effects of the card were still ongoing until the card was destroyed.  Wasn't that big an issue, was just looking for some clarification.  Thanks.

Although Baron Blade has different HP on both sides, he remains the same target. The same applies to any other target, TtE is only destroyed if the target it is attached to is destroyed or discarded and flipping a target is not the same as destroying it.

You were right to surmise that the ongoing keyword is needed for a card to be an ongoing card, the Paparazzi is an environment card, not an ongoing. At present there are no environment cards which are also have the keyword ongoing.

Twist the Ether only goes to the trash if the target leaves play. The only character cards that leave play when they are destroyed (without ending the game) are the Chairman and Omnitron. All other character cards will end the game or flip (and stay in play) when they are destroyed. Cards like Twist the Ether or Infection stay in play if their target flips.

do voodoo pins stay in play too?

voodoo pins stay in play until they are destroyed. Being targets with HP they don't stick around all to long if you choose to go after them.
