So, I had a great time at GreaterThanCon (I guess that's what we're calling it?) and now that Vengeance is officially out, I can start talking about it as long as I mark it with spoilers. Which I did. So here goes.
REVOCorp (officially pronounced Ree-vo corp, as spoken by Christopher) is a massive company within Sentinels lore, but I contend that they will play a much larger part in the future; either in the next expansion, Wrath of the Cosmos, or -- more likely -- in the Final Battle expansion, as arbiters for the Cosmic Entity that has had a hand in events since Cosmitron, The Matriarch (maybe?), the Time Cataclysm, and possibly even earlier.
What we've been told about it: Parse worked there. They were studying the remains of Omnitron-1 when the Cosmic Entity caused it to become Cosmitron, and Parse to gain her powers. ... and that's about it. However, I think it's something much more than just some company. I think it's a front. For aliens.
The reason being that one high-ranking member appears to be the character known as Revenant. He appeared prior to Vengeance on Shock Rounds (alongside Setback; appropriate considering that they are nemeses). On his card in Friction's deck, he simply appears outside of the REVOCorp building, but he is revealed to be -- if not in charge then in a middle-management position -- on Parse's Segmentation Fault, wherein his reaction to her shooting him (removing his metallic armor and revealing his odd, blue skin)... is to FIRE her.
Also, I believe that at some point in the timeline the Dark Watch stage an invasion of the REVOCorp building; Dark Watch ExPatriette's character card shows her camping out behind the sign on top of the building, and several Dark Watch art pieces -- Setback's character card, both sides, and ExPat's incap -- take place inside. My logic in determining this is as follows: they all appear to be the same location, and Setback's incap appears to take place immediately after ExPat takes the explosion for him in HER incap. The way I decided that they might be in that building without any other identifying features is the presence of the only other non-hero on ExPat's Incap card. A sillouette of a man with glowing red balls of energy encircling his fists, fighting against the Argent Adept. Well, Revenant can definitely fly -- he's doing it right there on his own card -- and on the back of the Vengeance box he is shown firing a beam of red energy at Dr. Medico. So, he fits the sillouette. And where else would he appear than in the REVOCorp building?
Finally, I asked Christopher about it in person. All he would say about REVOCorp was "Oh, yeah, REVOCorp? (correcting my pronounciation) They're... really cool. And they have great benefits!" and then he walked away, actively ending the conversation.
As a side note, I find myself comparing them to Oscorp, as represented in the Amazing Spider-Man movies. In those movies, they are shown to be directly responsible for the creation of Dr. Octopus, The Vulture, The Rhino, Electro, and the Green Goblin. Meanwhile, Setback (who already shares a lot of similarities to Peter Parker) is shown to face his own version of the Sinister 6, including the melty orange guy from Unity's deck, some Manta Ray guy, Ambuscade, a Vulture lookalike, the mirror lady from Nimble Strike, and an Electro lookalike. Given REVOCorp's tendency to experiment with dangerous and/or unknown technology, it doesn't seem too out of the question that they might fill some sort of villain-creator role or something, or a mysterious shadowy organization or whatever.
Thoughts?
