Yes I know there’s an errata, that’s not what the topic is about
Play this card next to a Target, other than the Villain Character Card. Whenever that target deals damage, you may redirect that damage to another target. If you do, The Visionary deals 3 psychic damage to that target and 3 psychic damage to herself.
If the target leaves play, destroy this card.
My confusion is which target is “that target”.
Say you have Visionary, a Kraken, and Citizen Dawn out. Wrest the Mind played on the Kraken.
Environment turn rolls around, which of the following is correct?
Visionary deals 3 damage to herself, and redirects the Krakens attack towards Dawn, dealing her 5 damage. The Kraken then takes 3 damage from Wrest the Mind.
Visionary deals 3 damage to herself and redirects the Krakens attack towards Dawn, dealing her 5 damage. Dawn then takes an additional 3 damage from Wrest the Mind.
I’ve been playing 1, but I can definitely see a case for 2. Either way I feel is an acceptable reading of the text.
thanks for any clarification

hm, well, you did answer it the question, but your emphasis implies you didnt understand it fully.
Visionary takes 3 damage from Wrest the mind. That’s clear. The Kraken makes its attack, that’s clear too, order is not particularly relevant to the question at hand, though I agree you are correct in your interpretation that the burn damage is resolved after the attack.
What I’m asking is what target the second 3 psychic damage is directed towards. Would it be against the Kraken, or against Dawn?
My first time playing at home I basically broke this card, setting it on one of Omnicron’s electro-pulse bombs.
Preventing 15 (Diminishing by 2 {Pre errata per hero of course) dmg from 5 heroes, redirecting it around as I wish while leaving the bomb with 7 hp (For a second go round) at the cost of just 10 hp using just one card…
Yeah, thats pretty darn epic if you ask me. After that Magic: The Gathering just doesn’t thrill me anymore.

If my parsing is correct, it would deal damage to the Kraken.
Also, if my interpretation of the order rules are correct, first “another target” would get the redirected damage, then “that target” would take the three psychic. Now, if that three psychic is enough to destroy “that target” then Wrest the Mind would leave play before The Visionary takes any damage.
Glad you asked, as I now agree with everyone’s interpretation that the three psychic damage get done to the target who’s mind is being wrested (rather than the target who’s getting hit with the redirected damage), but I hadn’t been playing it that way previously.
