Writhe vs. the Chairman

I believe I have stumbled across something beautiful and would like to confirm that I have played it correctly.

The Chairman is in play, and has been flipped. Writhe is in play, and has his Caliginous Form card active. Writhe inflicts damage on the Chairman. The Chairman retaliates for 3 HP of damage. Caliginous Form reduces that to 1 HP and redirects it to the Chairman, who currently the highest-HP villain. Then, because he has been damaged by a target that so happens to be himself, he retaliates and inflicts another 3 HP of damage on himself.

Does that sound right?

The Chairman only retaliates from the first hit each turn, which was Writhe's. Subsequent hits on the same turn wouldn't have any retaliation.

Ah, I thought it said the first time a target damages him. My mistake.

Did you win?

Yes, but only by being fairly lucky: I was in Silver Gulch, so I was able to let Explosives Wagon-enhanced Sheriff Pratt and Tyler Hayes pound on the villain targets for me. With Next Evolution, Legacy took and pinged all the melee damage being directed at the heroes with until his HP were whittled down to the point that Writhe was the guy blocking and/or countering all single hits (which took a while because he got out his ring and Motivational Charge within five rounds, so the group stayed pretty healthy), Mainstay kept the Sentinels running, and a bunch of Visionary’s Suggestion cards got to hand early on to keep control of the deck while frantically spamming Enlighten on Legacy to get Lead From the Front out.

Nice. We could always use some help with the current event, and you can probably add your game.

No, that sounds right to me. It's the first time each target hits him, just like backlash field, flame barrier, and combat stance.

The first time The Chairman is dealt damage each turn, deal the source of the damage x melee damage.
The first time Ra is dealt damage by a target each turn, Ra deals tha target 2 fire damage.
Argent Adept allows Ra to use a power, he burns The Chairman for some fire damage. The Chairman hits Ra back since it is the first time The Chairman was dealt damage. Now that Ra was dealt damage for the first time this turn by a target, Ra deals The Chairman 2 fire damage.

Argent Adept then allows Haka to play Rampage. It deals The Chairman 5 melee damage. This is not the first time The Chairman has been dealt damage, thus no damage dealt back to Haka. Haka then hits heroes for 2 damage, which includes Ra. This is the first time Ra has been dealt damage by the target, Haka now takes 2 fire damage.

Different triggers.

Wow, I never thought the Cursed Acolyte would come to my rescue. This is strange. What am I supposed to do or feel.

Fear.

I'd go with fear.

Fear.

Wow, both of you sasid the exact same thing at the exact same time. I guess I have to go with fear:

Huh, I didn't realize that. I always thought it was once per target. I've been playing him harder than I needed too all this time.

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: [mocking Simon's seriousness] Fear's nothing to be ashamed of, Doctor.
Dr. Simon Tam: This isn't fear. This is anger.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Well, kinda hard to tell one from t'other, face like yours.
Dr. Simon Tam: Yes, well, I imagine if it were fear, my eyes would be wider.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: I'll look for that next time.

Go with an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.
