Xtreme Prime Wardens Fanatic Unlock Discussion

Deadline destroys your stuff. Ambuscade don't. :B

Deadline can also easily get out of control with destroying the environment.  He's easy to beat but difficult to stall.

Or you could do what I did one game and start with two Sarabandes, the Pipes, and a Dynamic Siphon, I think it was.

My go to matchup for unlocking variants is Dark Visionary, AA, and Team Leader Tachyon, plus whomever the necessary hero is, and a flexible fifth depending on the requirements who is usually either Wraith, Grampa Legacy, or Parse, against Grand Warlord Voss.  He's nice, predictable, deals no damage if you keep him on his front side, and even his two ships and Forced Deployment aren't too hard to handle.

And in this case, Deadline might be destroying the vampires that need to end up facing Fanatic's blade.

I tend to bring Tempest along for access to Cleansing Downpour.

Did handelabra forget to make an unlock via button available as the unlock condition was already revealed?

That happens after 30 days

Or a somewhat recent-ish policy where it's also if the unlock conditions are found, whichever happens sooner, after enough people asked for it.

If the unlock condition wasn't discovered it happens after 30 days otherwise a button appears "soon" after the unlock condition was discovered and confirmed which already happened^^

Yep, forgot! It's there now.

Thank you

Thats why I said facing Deadline might be a bad choice for this unlock originally.

I was riffing on how people love to dump on RC Wraith. I think most of us know she's great for these kinds of situations, but I was entertained by this.

I used RC Wraith, and age was useful for getting rid of non-vampire cards, but the stand outs for me were Parse and Naturalist.

Naturalist kept the vampires under control and Parse’s exploit vulnerabilities and critical multipliers meant Fanatic could cut through vampires like soft butter.
They’re possibly two of my favourite decks to use currently too, especially with their variants, so I throw them in wherever I can.

He's a bad choice for just about any unlock, because unless you have reliable, early ongoing destruction (which is impossible – only one character has Ongoing destruction as a base power, but he still requires certain cards in hand to activate it), you're playing with a time limit.

And even if you have tons of ready ongoing destruction, he has a card that pulls out several Ongoings at once, so you can't really avoid the countdown.

Ambuscade, however, you can stall indefinitely. He can only win through doing damage (which is easily manageable), and he never destroys any of your stuff. So if there's a particular set-up you need for an unlock, you can do it with him no problem.

Jeysie already covered that

Yeah, that was a crazy stroke of good luck (along with some related stuff like Downpour and the Crest) that amounted to one amusingly cheap game against Deadline. Not recommended to rely upon as a regular tactic, though. ;P

Even so I don't feel Deadline overall is that hard of a villain to control for these unlocks and I have used him in unlocks which aren't villain specific.  If it does require something from the environment then I will use Voss or Ambuscade typically.

The big issue with using Deadline is taht he can deal infernal damage.
