I don't see why you couldn't create more than 8, though you will get to make some more during the game. The existence of the game also depends on whether we can get another player or two...
Whoa, have we found more players?! Cool! I had pretty much given up on getting a game started, but if people are still interested I can totally do this! I still have the file I was keeping the cards in, and I've been wanting to play this game again in some form. With the addition of Silverleaf and McBehrer, we'll have three players, the bare minimum we need to get started. Why don't you guys PM me your cards if you still want to play?
As BlueHairedMeerkat points out, you will be able to make additional cards during the game if you get a blank, so I'd prefer it if we didn't go much higher than 8 per player, but sending me more than 8 cards is by no means bad. Some people might want to submit less than 8( it would be nice if everyone contributed at least 5, though), or I might end up needing extra cards for something unexpected. So yeah, make as many as you like, the worst that could happen is some not being used.
I am still so very in :D
Yesyesyesyesyes
Come on, just two more people! Send me cards and we can begin!
Is it cool if I don't send cards until Sunday? I'm singing in a concert on Saturday and my spare time until then it somewhat limited. I'm still very much interested in playing.
Yeah yeah it's fine! Good luck! :-)
And that makes TWO confirmed players! One more person and we'll be able to start( I reserve the right to add in new players between rounds if other people say they're interested after the game starts. This game is chaotic enough that joining in late won't keep you from enjoying it. Heck, it could even give you an edge under the right circumstances)!
Is this going to be played out on the forums, or strictly through PM's.
I'm interested in playing the game, but I have never played and would prefer to observe a game first.
PMs will be utilized just for handling stuff we can't let other players see, like when someone "draws" a card. This thread will be our "table," where players post images of the cards they play and I give recaps of the current game state. If you're curious what this is like, here's one they played on TVTropes that inspired me to try this out. I've never actually done an online game of 1KBWC, either, but it looks like fun!
Yeah, I'm game for this. That'll get us started regardless of whether Phataskippy wants to join. Can I have a couple of days to get my cards together?
Yessss awesome! Sure, take your time. I started this thread in March; I can wait a few more days if it means finally getting started! (*◕‿◕*)
Also, I made a few cards of my own while I was waiting. So don't worry if you can't come up with a full 8 cards; I'll fill in the empty spots.
Still awaiting cards from Silverleaf. And possibly Phantaskippy and/or McBehrer, if they decide to join at the start.
But once I get Silverleaf's, we'll begin!
I have cards ready, I just don't know how to share them with you.
Do you have a Dropbox?
Yeah, I was wondering that as well. Sorry I didn't sort out cards as promised (I've been sick) but it's on my list of tasks for tonight. I have Dropbox and Google Drive if any of that helps.
I'm keeping all the cards in a file on Dropbox, and I also have Google drive. Maybe I can share the file and you can just add your cards to it?
I thought we weren't supposed to know what all cards are going to be involved? It's a surprise, no?
Well I have the cards sorted by author. I can just share one player's folder with that player, and the only cards they'll see are the ones they put there.
Incidentally, does anyone know of a good way to simulate non-standard decks of cards? Like, something where you give a range of numbers and it creates a pool to select one number at random from, then removes that number from the pool?
I figure I can always just keep a list of all cards currently in the deck and use a regular random number generator to pull out cards one by one, but if someone knows of an easier method...
Cards shared. Finally!
Make physical cards, shuffle them, and divide them into piles labeled by user.
