I'm reaching out to both the designers and the amazing community here for Sentinels of the Multiverse. My girlfriend of over a year and I play the game on a nearly daily basis- it is by far our favorite game out of our growing collection. I have decided that I want to spend the rest of my life with her- she is both the most wonderful woman I have ever met and my best friend. I want to make my proposal special for her and for that I would like to request the help of the Sentinels team!
I would like to ask from the developers to help me create a card I can insert without her knowledge into the deck of her favorite character (Expatriette) and be on one knee when she draws it.
My idea for the card was "Engaged in Combat" perhaps with a picture of Expatriette kissing or about to kiss a member of the male cast (or future hero, whatever!). I would like the quote at the bottom of the page to be "Will you Marry me?".
I know this is a great deal to ask- especially with Shattered Timelines coming out-but I would gladly pay any associated price for the art and production etc (I can't find any art that can match Adam's in quality and style).
From the community I would like to ask:
What do you think the card should do for mechanics?
Who should be her soon-to-be fiance (my favorite character is Absolute Zero- but her lips might get stuck to his faceplate!). Maybe at some point in the future it could be adopted into the plot.. but now I'm just talking crazy.
I do hope to hear from you guys at Greater than Games; I've had nothing but good encounters with you in the past and I cannot wait for the new expansions!
In any event, everyone have an amazing New Year's and please continue to be the amazing community you are,
She should definitely marry Haka... the rest are married already, wear armor everywhere (makes kissing difficult), are a bit old for her, or just don't seem her style. Haka is the ultimate lovable badass.
Also, the card should be an "ongoing" of course and it should be "limited"...
As far as the mechanic it should say "Attach this card to a hero character card of your choice. Should this card ever leave play, take half of that hero's equipment, ongoings, and..." hahaha. I'm just kidding about that part. Sorry. Couldn't help myself.
For real though, maybe it can say something like "team up with hero of your choice. Combine your hit points, equipment, buffs, etc. You now act as a unit. Deal damage, take damage, and heal as one. This card is indestructible."
Or something like that.
This is a really cool proposal. Let's make it happen! Heck, I'll pick up a pen and start sketching if Adam can't do it (although I am sure there are better artists in here).
Oh, and I hope your girlfriend doesn't frequent this forum...
That is an amazing idea! I love the team up idea! (I might be watching this nervously). To my knowledge she does not browse the site. I will keep her from doing so to the best of my ability though!
What about Bunker? They could bond over their love of projectiles! Either show him out of his suit about to kiss her or the two of them in a corner spraying bullets eveywhere! I love the idea of the POWER: Say yes. Thank you all or your support so much ; it means more to me than you know.
That's a link to a page where someone did something very similar with the game Ascension, if you get it off the ground be sure to set up a video camera like they did!
Some thoughts on how you can make the card yourself as the >G guys, while awesome, are also very busy at the moment.
First, the forge of the multiverse software in the Villain Contest section is great for making your own card layouts. If your art skills suck as bad as mine, you could scan in the Legacy Ring card to get an appropriate image (attached), possibly with some recolourisation.
Second, if you sleeve your cards you could just slip the card into one of the Expatriette sleeves. If not, a replacement card from the Expatriette deck costs 59 cents to get the back and you could glue the card over the top.
Third, this is a really cool idea and I wish you all the best with it.
You're not hoping to get an actual card printed at an actual card printer by >G, are you? Because that would be ludicrously expensive. I would assume the best you could hope for from the >G guys would be a PDF of a card that you could print at a place like artscow.com. And if that's the case, then the card creator is likely to get you what you're looking for without needing to hope they've got time to help.
Let's make something happen here. I'm excited about this idea. Shoot me an e-mail at christopher@sentinelsofthemultiverse.com, and let me know what sort of timeframe we're working with here.
I of course don't expect >G to go through that much trouble!
I actually did not know about the card creator- that solves a good portion of the issue- but I think new art would go the extra mile to make it truly unique and I haven't found someone to copy Adam's style. I'm willing to accept any help the >G team can give, if only advice.
Christopher,
I will send you an email ASAP; the next hour or so she'll be looking over my shoulder!
I love this idea! I'm sure Adam can draw you something awesome. I kind of like the idea of a scene with AZ on one knee presenting a ring to Expattriette...
As for the mechanics, I like the idea of something like the Staff of Ra - there's a power to say yes and spend the rest of your life in married bliss, or you could discard to "throw it" saying no and doing a bazillion damage to James Hamilton (protip: that second part is only funny/cute if you two have already discussed getting married and basically are already going to... if you two have not already decided to get married to each other DO NOT include that part, it would be way awkward even if she does want to say yes).
