It would be no good for telling stories in for any length of time, but I like the idea of doing a Disparation story where world peace is achieved and everyone more or less lives happily ever after, in a Utopian way that only works with a kinda creepy level of alteration to humanity’s violent passions that makes us seem slightly alien, unsettling but not actually horrific, because it shows us that maybe we’re the bad guys and our evilness is the security blanket we cling to. I think this scenario could best arise if The Grey and the Realm of Discord completely annihilated each other, so that nightmares and madness no longer had any connection to the collective psyche of humanity. The result would look a lot like everyone being Spock from Star Trek, just totally rationally solving every problem through reasonable discussion and compromise, so that all national borders are dissolved and everyone gets a job and an arranged marriage and various other planned solutions designed to optimize global efficiency, and everybody just agrees to go along with it because it’s the best solution. Like I said, weirdly creepy but in a way that might be better if it weren’t so obviously “not us”. And not a story you can keep telling, but worth telling once I think.
To be clear, a world without conflict can still have suffering. The influence of the grey probably prevents Aeturnus making things worse here, but they can still harvest what suffering inevitably exists. World peace doesn’t mean you can’t stub your toe or choke on your food.
