I feel bad posting this here, but I just want to see if my understanding of some of what I’ve read elsewhere on the forums about immunity, damage, and Absolute Zero is correct.
I’ve seen the following happen twice now in games where either the Environment or the Villain cards are doing a lot of of fire damage.
Ra plays “Flesh of the Sun God” and starts using the power to make the heroes immune to fire damage and relies on one-shots for damage.
At some point the Absolute Zero player starts feeling like they’re unable to deal a lot of damage since they’re not receiving fire damage due to the immunity. We’ve been playing it pretty much that immune prevents the Isothermic Tranducer or Coolant Blast from doing damage.
None of the Absolute Zero players have done this yet, but I could see someone saying:
The rulebook says immune people are still targeted. So Absolute Zero gets targeted, but is dealt 0 fire damage. He then uses Focus Apertures do increase that to one cold damage to a particular target.
Just to verify:
Absolute Zero has to be dealt 1 or more damage for the Isothermic Transducer to kick in, right? That’s the impression I get from the forums.
This means that perhaps, somewhat surprisingly, Absolute Zero and Ra may not be the best combination in a team. It just seemed when really large fire damage was being done, it would hit multiple targets. Blocking the damage on the other non-very quick healing heroes made more sense.
it also means other effects that change damage types tend to mess with Absolute Zero’s Isothermic Transducer, right?
