Accidental Second topic about Villains/Broken City/For Profit Preorder

Who thinks it's just an excuse to have a standalone Christopher and Adam deck? :P

Totally, hopefully we get Citizen Jodie in that deck as well.

Jodie and Paul could be a super powered logistics duo.

But then the debate over the most powerful deck would be done, so I don't expect that until the final game.

I'm sad this was posted when I was at work, but now I'm home to join in all the speculation! So happy for more Vengeance style villains, because I'm on the same boat where Vengful Five don't see a lot of table time. But I think with TEN new villains to mix and match with the Vengful Five (I assume they are compatible), I'm sure our group will be seeing a lot more multi-villain fights soon.

And yeah, between these and the new 3DS, I'll be with DefeatDust in going broke.

Omg another new expansion already :O. Are the dreaded shipping costs still the same? :(

I wonder what the two environments will with this villain themed expansion.   Maybe some thing like the Citadel of the Sun perhaps?    The secret base for this villain team-up?

Aw. :frowning: There goes my main from the game.

They sure are putting this out quick... They're not even giving us time to sell off Wrath of the Cosmos before starting a new preorder.

Now I'm super confused about the future direction of SotM.  I thought the plan was always for one more small expansion that would wrap up the storyline and fit into the empty space in the Vengeance box.  Now there's a 3rd big box that comes with a smallish number of total cards.  Will we be seeing even more expansions to eventually fill that box?  Is there even a defined endgame for this era of the Multiverse any more?

I've always understood that the final expansion would be a big box.

We'll see more expansion(s), not sure how many. But from what they have previously said, it should be about 2 more years before SotM is wrapped up.

The plan was for everything to fit in Enhanced Edition-sized boxes, but the total was never confirmed.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if that number was three, but I could of course be wrong! That would give us plenty of room for a few more regular expansions, and I'm very happy about that.

Is there even a defined endgame for this era of the Multiverse any more?

Definitely. There's always been a planned end.

The planned end is when you put the cards away in the box and say good night to your friends.

That doesn't make sense in terms of space though. Assuming the aim is to make sure all non-sleeved existing content fits in existing boxes, they should release big box expansions when existing boxes are full.

Having the the final big box only partially filled would be wasteful.

I don't believe they'd release a big box unless there were future decks to fill it, so I think Villains will be the final big box.

There is a planned end to SotM (and to Tactics!). The former is Soon, but not Yet.

Also, to answer some questions from earlier, the reason we are doing a single preorder period for all of these items is that it allows customers the greatest possible flexibility when it comes to paying shipping.

If you want to minimize shipping costs, you can order any number of preorder items together in a single order and only pay shipping once. This entire order will be held until all of the preorder items are available. We also encourage people to combine pre-orders with friends; every copy of VotM or Broken City in a pre-order will come with a set of all promo items.

If you want to ensure that you receive preorder items as soon as they are released and do not mind paying extra shipping, you can place multiple orders, each containing different preorder items. For anyone interested in doing so, the items available through this preorder will be shipped in three “batches”, which are, not necessarily in chronological order:

  1. Villains of the Multiverse + Oversized Villain Cards

  2. Sentinel Miniatures: Minions + Sentinel Tactics maps

  3. Sentinel Tactics: Broken City + For Profit + Associated Miniatures

Furthermore, we *should* be able to have flat rate shipping for both Canada and the EU, with the later being at least a bit cheaper than it has been on the past on Kickstarter campaigns.

I’m hoping VotM has 2 heroes, which would make the card count a lot closer to Vengeance iirc. However, they should probably both be repentant villains.

There was about a 2 year timeframe confirmed after WotC preorders came out. SotM expansions have come out about once a year. That meant 2 more expansions. The final one was always going to be a mega expansion, but no one had said there would be another standard format expansion (I had speculated that there wouldnt be in fact).

This villains expansion will likely fill in a few missing holes of the story before we push to the final conclusion with the final expansion. Thats how I see it.

Everything should be able to fit in 3 boxes. Looks like VotM will be the same style box as Vengeance. We will probably fit everything in one EE box and 2 vengeance boxes (which have room for oversized cards which all the VotM characters will come with and tokens and such)

And thus I'm broke before I even start getting money back…

But time for speculation and theories

First thoughts: I was going to mention this somewhere else, but we did see in Sky-scrapers deck a Plague Rat look-alike attached to a Bane style venom system. The reason I say look-alike is because I noticed some key differences. Mostly his pants which you can't see in the Villain box art. It's sky-scraper's Neutralizing Resonator and it shows plague rat with non-torn green and gray shorts, while normal plague rat has torn blue shorts. The fur is also lighter than the normal plague rat. Some theories as to why these differences. 1st: Someone created a second plague rat by forcefully injecting a test subject. 2nd:  Plague Rat is similiar to the Lizard, using a special compound to change and therefore when the heroes beat him and cut him off he searched for a way to regain his "power". (blown slightly out of the water by double checking wiki) Wiki says the change was gradual and caused by the dealers drugs and pike's chemicals in the sewers, but still possible if the former drug dealer was crazed enough to want to become plague rat again. 3rd: Someone tried to make Plague Rat easier to command and more powerful a foe against the heroes.

Lady with the half-face and lady in the red could potentially be the two figures from Tachyon's incap side. Lady with the face seems very likely to be ice based and red lady could have wind powers.

We haven't seen the blue guy with the gun and the pompadour, but my guess is that he'll be a Lobo pastiche.

Saber-tooth looking guy is wearing an amulet, probably very important.

I hope the Villains box ISN'T Vengeance-style, since all oversized villain cards and tokens and such could go in the Vengeance box, leaving more room in the Villains box for decks.

We know there will be stretch goals.

Promo cards for characters like Chrono-Ranger, Naturalist, Scholar ect. seem very likely as first up.

Mini expansions are very likely as well. Don't be surprised to see 1 or 2 villain-turned-hero decks in the expansion that is called "Villains of the Multiverse" as it would fit the theme perfectly. Since Matriarch (or whatever her new name will be. Nevermore?) is being introduced as a hero in Tactics now as a member of the Dark Watch, I would bet the farm that she will be part of this.
