It's fairly common in comic books for some otherwise good, or at least non-villainous, person or group to start creating countermeasures in the event a hero or group of heroes goes rogue. Especially since Iron Legacy painted a pretty clear picture of that happening, I have to think that the Sentinels world is the same.
So, who out there -- excluding villains -- has been putting together plans to deal with the Freedom Five or others should they become a threat?
Revo Corp seems likely, as would the military at Ft. Adamant, to have something up their sleeve along these lines.
And what about other heroes? Does The Wraith, for instance, have a sample of the Regression Serum in case Paul snaps?
F.I.L.T.E.R. (the agency K.N.Y.F.E. and Sargent Steel work/ed for) operates a transdimensional prison for the purpose of containing rogue meta-humans, has rather lose morals, chose to stand by as Earth was threatened and sent a squad which had no qualms about working with villains to bring back the agent who decided to actually do something about it.
Heh, this was actually part of the plot I used when I ran a Sentinels RPG. (Not the RPG, but mine.) FILTER, which rebranded as SERUM (Superhuman/Extraterrestrial Response and Urgent Measures) after the Freedom Five decided they didn't want to be tied to the US government anymore, played the role of the "human" counter-response to superhumans. They had a number of ongoing projects:
- Create an army of clones based on the gene-bound soldiers left behind by Voss in the aftermath of his invasion. An additional program (though further behind) involved clones based on super-powered individuals that could be programmed to have unwavering loyalty to SERUM.
- Integrate tech captured from the Omnitron robot with the Ironclad Project.
- Develop a superior super-serum based by integrating the progression serum and the Pike labs Barzakh formulas.
I'll admit now that I borrowed rather extensively from the first season of Young Justice to write my story, but I think it still made sense in the Sentinel universe.
We know that Omnitron-X has counter-Omnitron-X measures in place, don’t we?
Something I wondered about with Sentinels Tactics was if they could do scenarios with each hero as a villain in a domain that worked to their advantage (Fighting Bunker in a bunker, fighting AZ in an ice cavern) from the Freedom Tower (Not)Danger Room
