Exactly
Sentinels really has more of a Bronze Age/Modern Age thing going on, though - and during those periods, ape villains have been pretty well put on the backburner. If Sentinels were a "Silver Age game," the environment decks would full of things like "Romantic Interest Marring a Robot" and "You're Really Ugly - The Public Turns Against You," while the villains would all be playing cards based on practical jokes or absurd deceptions which amount to nothing, instead of killing people in cold blood.
Actually, though, that environment sounds pretty great. Maybe this isn't such a bad idea...

Surprise Shopping Trip has that covered
There's comedic beats lots of places, sure. But in surprise shopping trip, the joke is that the fight between the posthuman serial killer and the woman slowly being destroyed by dark magics has (due to a temporal anomaly) spilled over into a mundane setting. It's not like Legacy and Baron Blade have netered a pie-eating contest to design the sign for the new Megalopolis Mall (Blade wants to hide a death ray in the sign or something, Paul will give the contract to a silversmith friend who will otherwise go out of business) - that's a whole different level of crazy, one which we only really see in the form of Wraith's Action Hairdrier.

Is it bad that I now want a Silver Age-themed expansion?
Nah - I kinda do, too, after typing that.
