So, I picked up the Starter Kit, and I've read through the first two issues, as well as the Proletariat one. From both the Gameplay Guide and the first two issues, I get the feeling that in addition to rebuilding Megalopolis and Rook City, the heroes are also trying to "reboot" the multiverse, with a comment being made about a new "Nexus of the Void". Granted as the timeline for the RPG is only months after Oblivaeon, it could just be that the cracks take a while to close.
The problem is that there aren’t a whole heckovalot of heroes that have the power to try and repair the multiverse. Nightmist and the Scholar are both gone, AeonGirl is super new and likely wouldn’t know what to do, and I can’t really think of anyone else with the powerset to ‘fix’ reality. Maybe Argent Adept but he seems more fixed on void stuff. Maybe Harpy? Although she’s still not on Nightmist’s level.
Tangent: I’m actually going to be posting the idea for a hero or NPC hero in my hero index thread tomorrow that is focused on fixing the multiverse. Check it out!
I think as for right now, Argent really is the best bet, though maybe lifeline could also be of assistance? I remember what state he was in at the end of the OblivAeon event(it's been a while since I've listened to his episode of the Letters Page, and since I still haven't recieved my copy of OblivAeon yet I've activly been avoiding spoilers), but there's a chance he could help since he was able to channel OblivAeon's power and such.
And Degausser has a point: if you don't think any hero is equiped for the job, then you can always be the one to take up the burden and set forward to fix the cracks in the Multiverse!
Lifeline is having space adventures per his Letters Page episode. He could be of help repairing leylines but someone would have to bring the noble jerk back.
I may be misreading things, but I got the impression that the multiverse was already fixed?
Like, it feels like the normal healthy state of the multiverse was that everyone is ensconced within their own time and universe unable to travel between them, and it was OblivAeon who broke things in the first place. Now that he's gone, everything's back to its original state.
The Nexus of the Void is an entirely separate matter.
It seems like it goes both ways: the cracks slammed closed, leaving our Haka somewhere else, and female Haka here. Yet the Void is leaking into the material plane.
The stories of the two (and only two) Hakas in the entire multiverse makes me think of the price of the immortality: someone else must die so they can live, and that would be the Haka of another reality.
Lest we forget it, it's a comic book world, comics get retconned all the time, sometimes to the point where a retcon retcons a previous retcon!
Well, the Void has nothing to do with the Multiverse; every reality has its own separate Void.
So fixing the Void connection within any given universe and re-establishing a Nexus if it's destroyed, is all important, but that doesn't require or involve "rebooting" or otherwise fixing the entire Multiverse. Again unless I've misread a bunch of things (which is possible).
There is obviously a lot of things within any given universe which are broken and need fixing after the whole OblivAeon deal, but AFAIK the multiverse itself is now fine and stable again.
Could have sworn I posted a reply earlier today. Oh well. Anyway, there are ways from other sources I can re-introduce Planar/Reality or Time travel if players and I want to go that route. For now, I plan to run it as is.
