The Unforgiving Wasteland card does not affect character cards right since they are incapacitated and not destroyed when they get to zero?
I am not sure we have an official ruling for this.
But personaly, at my table, if a hero becomes incaped with Unforgiving Wasteland out, they are gone completley. I really believe this is the intent of the card.
I think there is an official ruling. Spiff says in his guide that the heroes are removed from the game.
Yes, it has been confirmed somewhere on the forums. That if a hero, Ennead, or Operative is destroyed by an environment card while Unforgiving Wasteland is in play it will be removed from the game.
Related question: Does a removed hero still get a turn (for things like Divine Focus)? I play no, but I'm not really sure...
No. No turn. No Incap ability. They are removed from the game as if they were never there in the first place (except for the [H] number. that does not change)
Does that bean that if legacy is removed, then galvanize will be ther forever? The start of legacy's next turn never comes, so galvanize never ends.
Nah. Legacy is gone. Any effect he provided immediately stops upon his death.
Let's be truthful, Foote, you just made that up, buddy. ;) Previous rulings have said that if an effect has a stated end time, then the effect will continue until that end time, even if the card is destroyed. So pppery's supposition is as valid as anything. We don't really know.
My supposition is that they still exist and have a turn, there's just nothing they can do on their turn.
I use the fact that doesn't change to as 'evidence' for my supposition, and if doesn't change, I have no reason to believe that the number of turns in a round changes.
Yeah your right spiff my bad. It's not immediate. But matchstick is correct that normally, an incapped hero still has a start of turn and end of turn, and galvenize would end then normally.
But we are talking removed from game here. It's an extremely unique situation and its not unreasonable to expect a unique answer. And if you remove Legacy from the game entirely it is totally within logical reason that any effect he provided would be removed from the game as well.
But it would also be logical and within reason to have the H reduced since H is defined in the rules as the "current" number of players... but we have been told that H is, in fact, not reduced when a player leaves the game for some reason.
So, while logic is indeed on your side, we can't really rely on logic to dictate rulings anymore.
I have to admit that all this ambiguous wordings and sometimes counterintuitive or even contradictory situations has been taking away from the game a little bit for me. I do love the game and have a group of people I play with where we don't have a problem because we have such a laid attitude about how things work and we tweak them freely as necessary... but I have often had a hard time explaining (or defending) certain card interactions when trying to bring the game to new players... to the point that I tend to avoid it and just stick to playing with my group only.
Yeah I understand that totally. Just the other day I was playing with a few new people to the game and took slight issue with one of the interactions (I don't remember which), but made a pretty decent thematic argument for it so I allowed it. At the end of day, you still just gotta have fun with it.
The hero deck leaves the game. The player stays to utilize incapacitated abilities.
