Knowing that Chokepoints nemesi all have Termi-Nation promos how do you believe the two are linked and can anything be deduced from the art story wise.
Unity looks a bit older. AZ seems to be using his powers to make an improvised Ice suit since chokepoint probably stole his tech. And bunker seems to be using a bunker suit made out of alien tech and Akash-Bhuta limbs. So I'm guessing Chokepoint had the tech based heroes of the freedom five in the ropes by using their greatest strengh against them. Pushed to their limits they had to be more creative on what and how they used what they had to fight her.
The other interesting point is if Unity managed to get a full spot in a Team-Up with 2 of the freedom 5 how did she react at still being treated as an intern to them couldn't she use her liaison with AZ and bunker as leverage on the other 3?
I would guess Unity remains the intern because she is seen as the child of the group and the one they want to protect. They are fully aware she can handle things on her own but there is still a parental protection thing going on.
Unity's status as an intern is solely because the Freedom Five stocked their gift shop before she showed up, and at this point they would have to take a loss on any merchandise if they changed their name or logo. Once they are out of stock of Freedom Five T-shirts and collectors memorabilia, they will reassess Unity's status.
Funny thing according to the wiki Unity is only 4 years younger than Wraith at 19 according to the wiki. The time jump between card game and tactics isn't clearly defined but i'd be surprised if Unity didn't catch up to wraith's card game age making it even weirder.
AbZero and Bunker all seem straight forward. Zero needs protection but can't use his suit, so he has to use his powers in different ways as we see on his card. Bunker has the same "my suit is gonna be used against me" problem as Az, so he gets a new one. I never thought about it being made from Akash limbs, but I think it's a very likely idea since the suite would need to be sorta organic or at least made up of a compound that Chokepoint couldn't manipulate. It's not all organic though, we see the limbs being held together with linking beams of sorts, and that red visor in the center screams some kind of Omnitron influence to me.
But the weird one here is Unity. Yeah, her constructs can be used against her, but thats as easy for her as just not making golems. What does her card art say about what she is doing differently? We see a rather large Chomps in the background, but how is that gonna help her? Whats new? If there is one thing that needs to be pointed out as "odd" in the picture however, its that she has a "gear" tattoo on her elbow. Can you see it? Is the tattoo new and now just a normal part of her growing up (in Tactics she wears long sleaves all the time so it's hard to compare the then/now). Or could it be something more telling?
I think what you all say makes sense about their new looks, and reason behind it. No need to beat a dead horse with Absolute Zero and Bunker.
My theories for Unity is that her power is to use her teammates (and her own) technology to benefit her. So, she doesn't wear anything she relies on for survival. Which makes sense; I don't see the word destroy in her new power. So thematically, her teammate's lack of tech can't help her make Golems. She needs a new way to do this.
I always felt she shared a lot with Kitty Pryde of X-men fame. If you don't know, here's the spiel.
She joined the Mutant Academy at a young age to get trained. She was never part of the older team full time, and has for the longest time played the side-kick in most of her adventures. She was the one younger kids can relate to. She was always a go-getter, in with the action and brave, but still considered a child. Of course this changes when joss Whedon got hold of her. She became more full-fledged and less "interny".
So Unity has always seemed like that to me. Full-time, but not really. Incredibly useful and talented, but still not entirely there. Yet.
Yeah, Bunker uses a powered armor suit in battle. Absolute Zero uses his powered armor to live. Unity doesn’t have anything of her own, no power suit, no weapons, just pants, shirt, and the rest. She doesn't need to change the way she dresses, or change too much what she wears for this kind of theme.
Her power are things she's built or found, not what she's equipped with. She relies on other's abilities, and power to be useful.
Hopefully this clears things up! And hopefully I don't sound too mean, I realize it was a little unclear.
Dude, your copy of Sentinel Tactics seems to have an error. On my copy, she has a sleeveless shirt and the tattoo can be seen quite well on Raptor Bot's card in Sentinel Tactics.
Well I'll be damned. You're right! My memory has let me down. Thanks Ronway.
Edit: I think the question of "What is Unity doing differently to combat Chokepoint" is still up for discussion. And wait till you all see her incap art. I feel like there will be some good threads about it because it has me totally stumped. Spoiler alert!
