Darkwatch Setback Variant Unlock Hunters!

Got the unlock on my second attempt.

Nightmist was MVP with her getting into Mistform with everyone in their mid teens. I somehow got The Chairman down to one card in his deck, which was of course Prison Break. Two Mistbounds gave everyone enough time for Setback to take both The Chairman and The Operative in the same turn.

Setback, making the impossible highly unlikely.

Took more than a few resets, but I finally got it as well. And I'm not ashamed to admit it, I gleefully abused the HELL out of Dual Crowbars and Friendly Fire (and poor Setback!) when they both showed up in the first turn!

Poor Setback really took one for the team as Mr. Fixer pounded him into near-oblivion (down to 3 HP, to be exact) with his crowbars, while simultaneously taking down the Operative in turn 1. Unsurprisingly, that particular "strategy" makes the Chairman a LOT easier to take down! :P

wow.

That is a brutal strategy that I never would have thought of. I avoided Friendly Fire like mad, using it only as fodder for DW Fixer, but... yeah. He does the damage then dual crowbars would make it fire again... and again... and again... and agian.... that is brutal.

i love it. Smart play!

That Friendly Fire and Jack Handle combo worked well.   I finally beat this scenario using that.

Is anyone willing to help unlock it with em together?

I'm having a hell of a time.

Aside from being murderously effective, I just loved the mental image of an utterly unhinged, post-resurrection Fixer beating the living hell out of both his former pupil AND his own team-mate in an unstopable crowbar-assisted beatdown!

Oh man, the Crowbars+Friendly Fire combo is hilariously effective. Especially when Setback draws Silver Lining right away, too. I got the unlock, was lucky enough to Risk into Friendly Fire and DW Fixer gave her the Jason Todd treatment. Rest of the game was easy (aside from one round that Prison Break came out).

Putting Fixer at the end is probably the best strategy -- if Nightmist and Expatriette can take out the Underbosses and Thugs, you can let him focus on setting up. I had two or three turns where there just weren't any targets, so by the time the Chairman flipped, he had the Crowbars, Greased Monkey Fist and Harmony all out. By smacking Setback or Nightmist first, he was able to hit the Chairman for 10 HP each turn.

... Though now that I think of it, it would've been even more effective to hit Chairman first, then target Nightmist to bounce it off her. Ah well, live and learn.

Ok. So Crowbars and Friendly fire?

Good to know!

Ho. Ly. Cow.

So, I unlocked DW Setback....on my 10th or 12th try.  I didn't restart any bad positions along the way, so I got beat up pretty bad several times...but finally it worked.

The team didn't have a good start (no Crowbars or Jack Handle)--I managed to eliminate the Operative, but by that time, everyone was incapped. Except for DW Nightmist. Who was down to 3 HP.

Then started my hour-long journey of Mistbound and crazy manipulation and healing and redirection.  It looked grim a couple of times, but at the end, DW NIghtmist prevailed (at over 20HP, too!)

Whew!

Tony Taurus was Faye's best friend.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE for promoting friendly fire!

Also, if I can make a suggestion? Hair Trigger Reflexes. If you get that your first turn? Use with Aim, and she is godly. Good buy to Informants and Thiefs!

Yeah, Hairtrigger Reflexes was a must for me when I finally beat "Ridiculous Challenge Time".  It was even better here with Setback occasionally letting Expat use a power off-turn.  Watching Hairtrigger Reflexes take down a Hired Gun before it could go off was tremendously satisfying.

I was just going to say this.  Hairtrigger/Aim is an amazing combo against the Chairman.  The most annoying thugs (informant, thief, hired gun) all have 2 hp, and the ability to prevent them from ever going off makes this matchup way more doable.  With nightmist soaking operative's retaliatory strikes, this partial lockdown gives you the time you need to kill off the underbosses and finally go after the vilain characters.  Those two were definitely the co-mvp's of the first half of my game, with Mr Fixer coming in like a freight train at the end to make short work of the operative and chairman.  I never saw friendly fire, so setback wound up being the least involved, although getting Looking Up right away, allowing a key Exceeded Expectations play early helped to clear the board much faster.

Hired Gun has 3 HP.

That's what I thought, but I saw the previous post talking about killing one before it could fire and thought maybe I had remembered wrong.  I checked the wiki, and on skimming the entry for hired gun the only number I saw was 2, so I figured I had.  Turns out I was looking at its damage, and hp isn't listed.  Still, I've always considered thief and informant to be the worst of the thugs, and they're usually my chief targets (though hired gun is definitely close, and depending on the situation, may be an even higher priority). Being able to avoid either of them ever triggering is huge.

How did you take down a hired gun with hairtrigger?  Friendly Fire/Wrong Time and Place?

Oh, I see "letting her use a power off turn" so you could aim twice.  Nice.  I had Setback before Expat in the order, so that wouldn't have worked for me, but it was a good call on your part.

I had the order of Fixer / Expat / Nightmist / Setback. So, yes, I got to use Aim twice in a round a couple times thanks to Setback, and its effect on Hairtrigger Reflexes was glorious.

It was many frustrating attempts but the friendly fire, dual crowbars combo to kill operative round one came through. Chairman got the same treatment once I got silver lining.

I am so so so so confused.

DW Expat, Setback, Nightmist, Fixer was my order.

I killed Chairman and Operative in Rook City.

Nightmist was at 11 HP, everyone else incapped.

No unlock?

Was it cuz I used DW Expat?

Wait, nope, it was cuz I didn't use enough DWs, looks like. Cool. Four hours of retrying wasted, let's go again!
