Darkwatch Setback Variant Unlock Hunters!

Dark Watch Mr. Fixer is incredibly great. The other heroes almost always have cards to volunteer for destruction, and even without that, all it takes is a little patience. Play a card, skip one power use, and then you're on to the cycle of destruction.

I prefer regular Mr. Fixer myself, mostly because of a general aversion to card destruction, but I do appreciate how Dark Watch Fixer turns Bloody Knuckles from a risky play to a no-brainer.

It’s not entirely a no-brainer, though it often is. In the Dark Watch Setback unlock, for example, I couldn’t afford Bloody Knuckles on Mr. Fixer because the Chairman’s retaliation would kill him.

Good point

I have no idea if this has been pointed out before, so apoligies for redundancies. My strategy that eventually worked was to lock the Chairman and Rook City's decks. It's not as reliable as Dual Crowbar/Friendly Fire, but I was too impatient to reset until I got that hand, so this happened accidently. Basically, this is more something to just keep in mind as a longshot possibility.

Incap DW Mr. Fixer puts an envrionment card from trash on bottom of deck. Incap DW Nightmist puts the top card of a trash on top of it's deck.

It's possible, however unlikely it sounds, to engineer a case where the environment deck is near empty and The Chairman plays Perfect Human Specimines. As long as those envrionment cards aren't Scum and Villiany, and you deal with the Chairman's damaging targets, you can force a hard lock. Nightmist puts the PHS back on top of Chairman's deck every turn, and Fixer alternates Tony and Tremada on the bottom of the envrionment deck, since they will keep getting destroyed by the Villain Character cards.

From here, Setback can generate tokens and heal himself back to safety, and Expat can just play every single card ever. Then, whenever you want, build up setback's token pool and one-shot the operative and chairman.

This all sounds pie in the sky rediculous, but I've made it work 3 times- my Steam, my brother's Steam, and my phone, out of proably 10  or 11 total games attempted. It's tedious, but safe, and you get a feel pretty quick if this setup is going to be possible. (Early prison breaks and scum/villany are your friends.)

Maybe that’s not as hard as it sounds at first. Neither condition (Perfect Human Specimens last played, Tony and Dr. Tremada are the only cards in the environment deck) really relies on chance.

Assume both are are incapacitated. Any time Tony or Dr. Tremada is in the trash, Mr. Fixer puts them back. Eventually the environment will be only those 2 cards. Any time the Chairman plays Perfect Human Specimens, Nightmist puts that back. Unless the environment forces another Chairman play, or an Informant plays a Chairman card, the Chairman is locked into playing that card forever. The Operative will shuffle the Chairman’s deck every turn, but that happens after they play Perfect Human Specimens.

The main issue is that the Operative will still play all the underbosses, so you need to deal with each of them in turn. You can assume that Jailbreak is put on hold forever, so they won’t come back once you get rid of them.

Informants and Scum and Villany are both a problem because they can break the Perfect Human Specimens lock. Twisting Back Alleys can also break it, but it’s destroyable before it takes effect.

Worth noting also that once you have a lock in place, or are very close, Twisted Back Alley and Blighted Streets do nothing and don’t need to be destroyed.
