If a card says "deal 1 damage to a target, cards dealt damage in this way suffer X effect" is dealing the damage enough to trigger the effect? Or dies the target have to take damage after reduction is applied.
I used to think that the target had to take damage to trigger the effect, but there's a mr fixer card that's worded to specifically reference "taking damage" as opposed to "dealt" so I was unsure.
In the example you have given it does in fact have to take damage after any reduction to trigger the effect. There are some cards that don't have to deal damage, such as Wraith's Stun Bolt "The Wraith deals 1 target 1 Projectile damage. Until the start of your next turn, reduce all damage dealt by 1." as it doesn't have the "cards dealt damage" clause in it. Now Throat Jab on the other hand reads 'The target dealt damage this way cannot deal damage until the start of your next turn." Will have to deal damage.
