Don't let the (chair)Man get you down, man.

wait  a minute you guys,  when did Rook City come out?  Like... 2 years ago?   I think I just figured out how to beat the Chairman.   Ok, quiet you, it took me a while =p.    This isn't  a guide because  1.  I havent tested it extensively enough to write one and I want to play some more games first to make sure I'm right.   This is just a giddy schoolgirl kind of post.   2.  I'm incredibly lazy.

Maybe I'll do the big reaveal and then you'll be like  "well duh,  that's totally obvious, we've been doing that for like...  forever."  Anyway,  no tricks, no shenanigans, no special environments or hero combos,  just general strategy.   Any heros,  any environments.

Naturally all the normal tricks still apply;  ground pound is good, so is Hypersonic, nearly one-hit KOing chairman with Lightspeed or Wrathful Retribution is always nice, get DR, , yada, yada, yada... not talking about any of that.   Good stuff,  but not what this post is about.   Ok, ready?  Here we go...

The informant is your friend.  The Broker is your friend too.   Say what?  But those play more villain cards!   That's like the worst thing that villain cards do!    Well, you would think so... but no.    Yes, this is counter-intuitive.  Yes it doesn't make any sense.   Yes it does work.  This is why it took me a while.   Let him play villain cards.   Let him play lots and lots of villain cards.  Your goal is merely to survive, until you can shuffle the villain deck, and get all the thugs out of the trash.   Kill off the thugs when they come out,  try not to touch the underbosses,  you dont want the chairman to flip.  Working down the Operative is also helpful if you can spare the damage.  Once his deck is getting thin, you go all supernova and kill everything, including underbosses.  If you do it right, he flips right when he has a new deck of cards to go through. From there his combos are severely lessened, and you should be able to handle it.

This might be tricky if the Broker comes out last, or close to it.  Beyond that anything that lets them play more villain cards is good for you, like... um...  I mean like... you know... like  Rook City.   Did I just write those words? Did I just actually suggest that?   I think I did...    No unsaying it now.   Well I mean I could,  but I'm not going to.

Well done, sir. I like it.

I am _VERY_ curious to see how this plays out. May need to make some time for some solo Chairman games.

I never would have thought of facing the chairman quite in that way. Very curious to see how this plays out as well! Our 3 hero games against the Chairman are brutal, so having a new gameplan for him to try is very cool.

Great work.

doesn't one of the guides mention this? Ok, not a whole thread for it but a mention somewhere. I think that if you can bottom deck both Jail Break you can beat him straight up just before he flips. On normal, no comment on Advanced, haven't faced him like that yet.

edit: of course, if you don't beat him just before he flips you have one hell of an interesting turn ahead of you...

How do you beat the chairman before he flips? He's immune to damage.

Did you mean before he cycles his deck?

yes, before the Villain deck is shuffled. My bad.

PePe QuiCoSE:   I belive one of the guides does indeed mention that getting him to reshuffle his deck will make things easier for you, yes.  I've heard of hero-specific stategies to acomplish this, primarily Brain Burn.   The idea of reaching this goal by leaving the Broker and one (or more?  havent tried it with both)  Informants in play is something that I don't believe was stated.   I could be wrong.

Regardless, it is something new for me,  my pervious stategy was to take out the Informants as fast as possible, usually sacrificing the card play on the first hero to do it, assuming they had a power available that could deal 2 damage.

I tried this again,  it worked again.   No heroes incapacitated either time.   If you're interested in specifics, I've been playing 4 hero games, advanced mode.   First game was on Final Wasteland, second took place on the Block.

EDIT:  Acutally, it does look like flamethrower49 did mention it specifically.   Which is weird, because in the games we've played together, I don't think that strategy has ever come up.   Oh well,  new to me,  so I'm still happy.

I play 3 heroes so weathering the turns until he shuffles is kinda a big deal, need to look for the beefier heroes. It makes a lot more sense on advance though (going with that mentality) since the Chairman just goes out almost instantly.

yes I did happen to play a team with high hp the second game.   I had Young Legacy (30), Redeemer Fanatic (31), Ra (30) and [REDACTED] who also has a lot of HP.

Don't worry though,  [REDACTED] was not a lynchpin in the game.

Very different strategy thematically too.

Instead of just trying to find him and avoid and deal with his minions until you can locate him, you park yourself and make him come to you, go after his thugs, weaken his power base until he has to come after you, then beat him.

I am definitely going to try it, it weems much riskier with all those cards coming out and having to keep the thugs under control, but it would probably be easier then I thought.

There was indeed a guide that mentioned this strategy, but only in passing. It pointed out that the cards that you are letting the Chairman play to get through his deck are very painful, but if you can get to the reshuffle things get a lot easier.
