Oh cool, we just call it "Target", cos it was decided that's what it kind of looks like

I thought it was a sun.

"Death"? The Anhk is the symbol of life.

Technically, I believe it's the symbol for eternal life, which is subtly different than both.

You're both right, points for everyone!

As an Egyptian hieroglyphic it is the word "Life" but as a symbol it represents eternal life. I believe it also held connections with the Nile, that which gave life to Egypt (though it has been a long time since I have looked at Egyption mythology/sybolism).

The Ankh was related to Isis too, as she was the goddess of life/rebirth. There was a festival for her in the Spring. And there's the story of how Set (god of Death or something along those lines, I'm not too sure) murdered Osiris (husband of Isis and lord of the Underworld, who oversaw all the weighing of hearts and all that stuff) and chopped him up into loads of bits. Isis went and found all the bits, put them back together again, and resurrected Osiris.

...except for a certain part, and that's why...

Wait. That was Anne Rice.

Carry on.

Actually, it's mythologically correct that she didn't put quite all of him back together, as a crocodile had eaten one certain bit.
