Ep 29 of The Letters Page! Discussion - The Argent Adept

This episode is longer than the episodes on The Ennead and The Nemesis! If Christopher and Adam don't speak in rhyme the whole time I shall consider it a crime.

You can find it here

This was pretty intense, so much going on, and a lot of the answers not exactly... clear. Then again, I had completely forgotten about asking my question, so who knows, where I'm concerned. :V

All I know for sure is Christopher Badell created our reality. This is no doubt why he looks like Jesus.

I'm very pleased, though, that I guessed right on a lot of the previous Virtuousos. (I've had some reason to do so.) I mean, I thought Akpunku would be a guy, and I had no idea where Telamon could be from, but I was right about the others! :D

I'd just like to know why my Freebird question was skipped  :slightly_frowning_face:

If Christopher and Adam don't speak in rhyme the whole time I shall consider it a crime.

You'd better jail them

Looove the semi-reveal about a certain villain's origin. Didn't see that one coming.

I love how I joked a long while back that I wanted to see a Virtuoso who had the recorder as a signature instrument and it turns out that Anthony himself technically speaking is that Virtuoso. Support to another singer who had to suffer through the horror of the recorder in middle school.

Also... while C&A used my question about Anthony's outfit as a segue to the Tactics section, I don't know if they really actually fully answered it. (Otherwise I can't complain, I really did manage to ask a lot of the same questions everyone else did. >_>;)

(Also also I feel like a bunch of old skool comic writers creating a cute pretty boy musician, somehow still singling him out as the only character to never get any girls interested in him, and then figuring out how to retcon in a reason for that, all makes an amusing amount of sense.)

I thought what defined a Relic in the game was interesting as it had bothered me that Instruments weren't Relics but were an intricate part of his character.   The idea that a Relic has power to it that whomever uses it will be granted that power whereas his Instruments while powerful do not impart powers upon just anyone.  Makes me wonder about the items in Apostate's deck and if there were other wielders of it along with what granted them power since he is directly tied to them.  Also, what would happen if someone took Fanatic's Aegis and Sword along with how powerful Citizen Truth's shield is to stop a Relic.

When the knockoff's question came up I was like, "Ah nuts, it finally happened I submitted a typo." But then they started reading it and I was like, "Wait... what is this nonsense?" Needless to say I was beside myself with laughter. Then when Prince "Cooler" came along I was laughing like crazy, got so many weird looks today.

Can't wait for the Akash'Bhuta episode, I've got some important questions for that one.

I just sent them a follow-up question on more or less this topic.

Thanks to Sentinels Live I discovered that in Bottom of the Ninth there is in fact one honest to god pic of Argent Adept smiling and having fun. Apparently even super serious bards can't resist a good game of baseball.

Also as much as I was laughing like mad at the alliterative Virtuoso names, I feel like I should note that usually "chanteuse" refers to a female singer. >_>

I'm really curious about his side-project with Idealist. Between Visionary, Unity, and now Idealist, Anthony seems to be developing a Wolverine-like trend of mentoring teenage girls.

The whole one-with-the-Void-after-you-die thing with the Virtuosos continues to kinda creep me out, including the fact that Anthony almost accidentally exiled himself from existence, basically. I wonder if Foote has gotten to listen and tweak their Void theories any.

I see that Tactics continues to be the timeline of most people making really bad choices.  “Yeah you’re busy overloading yourself with power and there’s this whole power binding ritual that’s just been kinda sitting off in the corner here, there’s no way any of this could possibly go wrong.” At least he gets an awesome scarf out of it all?

And Anthony's fate in the RPG timeline is… weirdly adorable? Like kinda bizarrely sweet? I'm not the only one who reads it that way, am I?

I'm entertained that the third-best thing about The Letters Page is having a question I asked come up, but I asked it so long ago that I completely forgot I'd asked it!  :sunglasses:

(The first is listening to people I like riff on something we all love, and the second is the entertaining story reveals coming out of the podcast.)

Also, I'm glad that so many of you are awesome at coming up with entertaining questions and ways to ask them!  :+1:

Now I'm even more entertained. I assumed those were all from you, that you were just messing around with them!

That's what i thought too.

I really need to start keeping track of my questions. There was one I asked that I thought they would answer; and nothing. Then this morning on the way to work I remembered that I Tagged it to La Capitan cause it's more applicable there & now i feel silly.

I was surprised that nobody asked about the events seen on Polyphoric Flare, where we seen AA shooting Seige Breaker throgh his own chest with a beam of energy. I suppose I should have summited a question myself about it. I hope that they'll have an interlude where I can sneak that one in.

That's likely more pertinent to LaCapitan episode than Argent. Or if there is an interlude for her crew specifically.

This is like the third time that I've asked a question that was immediately answered in the backstory (in this case, how did Anthony get the pipes and who taught him music).

Maybe my questions are just too obvious.

I'm not sure who you are referring to.

This was a great episode (plus I'm finally 100% caught up with the Letter's Page) but it did leave me with at least one question I hope gets covered later.

Is there a warrant out for Anthony Drake / Argent Adept because of his theft of priceless artifacts? That's a pretty major offense.

Also, some of those Virtuoso names are… kind of incredibly silly. Though, I fully admit missing that Argent = Silver, so that one is on me

I may be incorrect, but I imagine the "Prince Cooler" is actually a reference to the Dragonball Z character with that exact name.

Though I totally thought you were PrincessFool

Ah good, I always like it when I know someone else asked a question I was thinking about asking, that way I don't accidentally double up or knock someone else's question off the show

I'm not positive either, but I am assuming it is Akash'Bhuta because they hinted at some possibilities that are intriguing.

They did talk about Biomancer that may be M3nz3r might be referring to

Honestly, every time I picture Anthony running out of the museum carrying the giant bell I crack up laughing because I cannot think of a way that wouldn't look silly.

Don't forget the Legend of Zelda "item get" jingle that plays when he grabs it!
