Episode 140 of the Letters Page: Writer’s Room: Mystery Comics Vol 2, Issue #476

Foolish behavior

I was flabbergasted at Adam's inability to recall the names of D-list supporting characters (valid) while rattling off comic issue numbers like it ain't no thang (literally what).

Also, for the love of god, please, no one make the "Cult of Covid" a Letters Page gag. Just, please, don't.

Hmmm.......

My wife was listening in the other room, and I suddenly heard indignant shouts about how ravens, in particular, are smart enough to use tools, count, and speak.

They both pronounce Balerion really weird in this episode compared to earlier.

The story they’re crafting here seems very much like Spiderman Far From Home (minus the dumb teenage comedy bits at the beginning). Hero fights a villain or a big scary monster, then another fight, then another fight, seems like a very dumb formulaic battle, and then last second twist ending and the story ends with the hero totally screwed. The entire story would have been a waste of time if not for that ending, but you needed the banality of the entire story to set up how devastating the twist was.

I think this story would have been better if they hadn’t been married to using the nemesis targets from the MI VOTM deck. Balerion is very out of place, and Green Grosser nearly as much so. Villains native to Rook City would have been better.

I’d like to see a canonical compare/contrast of powers between Miss Information and The Concept Artist, as they both have powers that are mostly illusions but can become “real” to varying degrees depending on how hard they concentrate.

The Concordant Harmony Entity would like to remind Adam that the other word for “preservation” (not in the Prime War sense), which he was groping for, was “conservation”.

Beryl is emerald (I think, it might be Ruby and sapphire), so even though chrysoprase is much less valuable, I think it would still be accurate to call it a gemstone.

PS, add me as another fan who counts Naturalist as his favorite character, or at least one of the top three. I strongly dislike the fact that both intended future versions of Mr. Conteh change his name and powers drastically, to either Chimera or Wildlife; unlike with Chrono-Ranger, where I dislike the new names but agree with the need to have them, in this case I see no reason why the character couldn’t have stayed just as similar as SCRPG Wraith and Bunker and Tachyon.
