Expansion #4 Speculation

Scroll to the bottom for tl;dr version

A few things I want to say before I speculate:

1)  This is my first post.  I haven't even played SotM yet, but I have all the expansions and the Enhanced Edition sitting 10 feet away from me.  I'm just waiting for my cousin/gaming partner who just had a baby to free up some time to play :)

2)  I'm a lifelong comic book fan and my favorite hero (you could probably guess from my display name) is Iron Man.  I have a soft spot for power armored heroes/villains of all varieties and I'm really looking forward to playing Bunker and (hopefully mastering) Absolute Zero.

3)  While perusing the forums since I first heard about the game, I constantly find myself confused by the background information that other players seem to know that I have no idea where they are finding.  That being said, I apologize if the speculation I'm about to unleash is information that is already known to be true or false and I apologize further for speculating on Expansion #4 before Shattered Timelines has even reached the highest Stretch Reward level.

So without further ado:  With the heroes of Shattered Timelines (un)officially known and one of the villains officially known and another unofficially known, I'm feeling less and less like Bunker and AZ's nemeses are going to be in this expansion.  Also, I'm not sure that a time and space themed expansion really SHOULD include nemeses for those two heroes.

The first expansion covered street level heroes, the second expansion covered magic, the third expansion covers Jack Kirbyesque cosmic-type stuff, so I think the fourth expansion will delve into another very common comic book theme:  super-science and technology.

It's different enough from the time and space stuff in Shattered Timelines to merit its own theme and it would be the perfect place for the nemeses of the three tech-based heroes (Bunker, AZ, and Unity) all of whom are as-yet nemesis-free AFAIK.  What does anyone think?

tl;dr I think the 3rd expansion might be a super-science and technology themed expansion and include the nemeses of Bunker, AZ, and Unity, the three tech-based heroes.

I think this is a good projection.

Seems very reasonable to me.

First off, welcome to the forums. Good to have you here.

Secondly, don't worry about making points that others have already made. It happens. I'd recommend glancing back some ways to see if someone has already put that idea forward, but it's okay if you don't; things tend to get jumbled around here, so it's cool.

Thirdly, I'm totally behind you. A technology/science based expansion is pretty likely to happen. Good call. There's no shame in making guesses about a future expansion while another is currently being funded. Hell, people are already speculating about The Assistant's nemesis completely based off the nemesis icon she has (and I am among those speculators!). Right now, the consensus seems to be that her nemesis will be some sort of programmer/computer genius, since the heroes symbol is a pair of brackets, which are frequently used in programming and coding.

And hey, what kind of expansion would a computer genius hero fit? Why, this possible technology/science expansion we're thinking of!

Enjoy your first game, and good luck.

Even if I am sure Bunker, Zero and Unity will have a "group nemesis" in timelines, I think you probably are right. Especially when the two villains revealed (the Assistant and La Capitàn)  both have new nemesis Icons, and we only have one new promo hero on the horizon... Superscience seems reasonable.  But we are also lacking a "Space" expansion with more extraterrestrial menaces :)

It was confirmed in an interview that evil Legacy will be the nemesis of all of the freedom six, which is Tachyon, Absolute Zero, Bunker, Unity, Tempest, and Wraith.

That being said, I think they SHOULD get their own unique nemeses, and a tech-themed expansion would fit all 3 of them perfectly.

However, it was stated that the expansion after Shattered Timelines would be completely different from the others. Maybe that just means there will be more heroes in it (to make up for the villains without nemeses) or maybe it will be something completely different.

Honestly, I'm excited for La Capitan's nemesis. Look at that nemesis symbol!

I agree on a big tech expansion, perhaps with a superspy gadgets hero, cyberspace enviroments and a japanese mecha version of Bunker.

There are still lots of villains we've seen on cards that I'm dying to be able to fight, not all of which fit a space/tech theme. The red, star-faced multiple man, or the skeleton ghost guy Wraith throat jabs. I honestly wouldn't mind an expansion consisting of nothing but those misc. villains.

Why not put all the misc. villains in a Prime Wardens expansion pack? Then you could throw in a Haka promo card and a Create a Hero contest for good measure.

Are we certain that the red, star-faced multiple man is a villain? I'm dying to play a Multiple Man-type hero, almost as much as a Green Arrow/Hawkeye classic archer.

This pulp adventure fan would also accept a Throwback expansion with Legacy's dad, the WWII Bunker, Blade's dad, and some original pulpy villains. A Frontlines environment would be excellent, too. You could even have promos for Argent Adept and Haka since one is a legacy hero and the other is an ancient warrior.

I suppose the red star-faced guys fighting Legacy on the "Lead From The Front" could just be trying to get his autograph, but he's there again on the Rook City card "Scum and Villainy", which is a little harder to explain away. Plus, he's got a Soviet-looking sickle on his chest, which isn't usually a sign of good intentions.

A Prime Wardens expansion makes as much sense as a tech one, so I say "bring it on"!  But now I want a throwback expansion like Flex mentioned, too. I want it all.

Why not just have all the expansions ever? I'd be a fan of a Prime Wardens expansion, but there's only one Prime Warden hero we don't have yet, so who would the second hero be? That is, assuming such an expansion would be consistent with the patterns of others. Heck, if they wanted to, they could release a PW expansion with different numbers of decks for a cheaper price. I feel as though we'll be seeing that one red & gold hero as a part of another expansion.

However, a throwback expansion would be glorious. Maybe that's where the Soviet red men will come from.

Only one prime wardens we don`t have yet? i think i am missed something then - let me look on silver shadow card. We got haka ,  fanatic , adept , tempest in weird clothes wielding a sword and... hm... some silvery guy and some person in mask wearing a red costume. Do we know who is this silver guy or red guy already?

We assume the "silver guy" is Argent Adepts "Silver Shadow" ;) The red guy most of us have no clue about.

Chromium Man, nice speculation.  I could also go for a totally new set of Techno/High Science villans expansion.  However, I could also see them doing an all Mutants Expansion or even a "Young Sentinels" group expansion. A nod to the Teen Titans, New Mutants, Power Pack as well as the X-men.

I for one wouldn't also mind seeing some sort of wisecracking fourth wall breaking character (Hero or Villian or both) as a Promo deck.  I mean a certain wall crawler would always make really bad puns, but look at people like Deadpool and She-Hulk who...knew they were comic book characters and DID on occasion break the Fourth Wall.

I've always hated the fourth wall breaking. I fervently hope you're wrong, Tegre. :)

One reason I am so drawn to Sentinels is actually the fact that there are so few teens. Superheroes are so frequently young and vivacious, while in this Multiverse, most of the heroes are in their thirties or even forties, which I feel is excellently refreshing. Seeing a bunch of young guns would sadden me a little.

to be fair, there are a lot of older superheros too, but they tend to get into Death cycle comics and get killed off as they get to old to keep up with the 'young guns' as it were. Lot of our favorites are now portrayed in their 30s, 40s, 50s even for a few of them.

unity, visionary and young legacy are the only teenagers aren't they?

Well, that settles that.  My next game will be Unity, Visionary, and Legacy.  (Well, I'll try anyway.)

You need to fight Matriarch…i believe she is also a teenager according to the website info page on her.
