Freedom Five Absolute Zero Unlock Discussion

Maybe it's something like, "Absolute Zero must do fire damage to himself on each of his turns?"

I'm pretty sure I had at least one turn where I didn't on my unlock, but I can't honestly be sure.

 

Definitely not. It took me a few turns to get to his Isothermic Transducer out, and I was only doing cold damage to him for about six turns at the start of the game. 

Or maybe it’s how much fire damage he takes period not how much he deals. I was so focused on the damage he dealt I may have missed this.

I need to go back to the logs but gonna put out one more adjustment:

  1. Do the pre-reqs
  2. Vanilla Freedom Five beat Progeny in Megalopolis
  3. Absolute Zero must have 6 ongoings in play at the end of the game.
  4. Absolute Zero must take at least 30 Fire Damage
  5. Absolute Zero must deal at least 30 Cold Damage

Back to the logs to check. I so hate those logs.

Of note, I had six ongoings in play throughout the game, however two of them were the Glacial draw, and were used and destroyed.

Impale never showed up. Sub-Zero wasn't played (because it seems like an atrocious idea against Progeny).

Abz dealt himself 80 fire damage, healed 79hp, and dealt 106 frost damage out to Progeny, 113 total frost damage with the Monorails figured in.

Also failed to unlock Legacy, but he never got lead from the front, just got pings from smoke bombs.

Sub-Zero actually works pretty well against Progeny, potentially. It means that the Scion pre-plays, which detonates Hour of Reckoning or Time of Tumult without them getting to actually /do things/. 

AZ Fail, but Legacy unlock. Didn't get up to the 30 fire damage, sadly only 20.

Successful unlock of both AZ and Legacy.

Managed to get Wraith and Legacy during my AZ attempt... Fail to win? Does anyone know if you need the 6 ongoings in play at the point of unlock? of can you have played and lost them? Next attempt.......

I had a failed attempt with only 5 in play, but at least 3 more played - I’m pretty sure I’d done enough damage, but I only realised after finishing that my iPad had lost internet connection so not sure if that was the only reason I didn’t get the unlock…

You don't need internet connection at the time of completion to unlock.  I unlocked on the train, and my tablet has no non-WiFi internet capability,

In which case, I imagine you do need 6 in play at the end of the game…

I didn't track the damage numbers, but got the unlock. It's been so long that I can't remember where to find the logs. My 2 cents are on the 29+ damages wording, but we'll know soon enough. 

Ok so with a slight adjustment:

  5. Absolute Zero must deal more Cold Damage than his max hit points of 29.

4. Absolute Zero must DEAL more Fire Damage than his max hit points of 29.
5. Absolute Zero must deal more Cold Damage than his max hit points of 29.

Because self damage is still dealt damage...

So, over on the Steam forums, there's a spreadsheet created by Bart_KF which has a bunch of game logs put into it, and one of them succeeded in unlocking FV Absolute Zero with only 4 ongoings in play at the end.  Just wanted to point that out, although I don't have any condition suggestions myself.

Seems like this one is going to be a 30 day unlock.

Speaking of which, that should that be today?  Sorry, just can’t bring myself to fight Progeny with FF5 again…

Got it!

Had 6x ongoing in play (including 2x coolant blast, 2x Impale, 1x cold snap, and 1x thermal shockwave)

I played a glacial structure early in the game and used it to draw 3 cards. Subzero atmosphere got destroyed earlier in the game as well. So each ongoing was played during the game. I used thermal shockwave at least twice.

Both modules, focused aperture, and cryo chamber were all in play.

I made sure to do 30+ fire damage. I ended up having to target heroes and destroy my own legacy buffs so progeny wouldn’t die from the impales. Also, hit progeny with chip shots to allow him to heal from the ice scions and stay alive so I could dig for the sixth ongoing card.
