Just received my latest issue of GTM, and was at first disappointed that it didn’t have the Cthulhu Wars promo mini included.
Then I got to the middle of the mag and found a full-size pull-out of the starter kit’s Tachyon booklet and my heart soared.
I’m hoping the four-page fold-out style is in the final release for all the hero booklets, because it is way better organized than the stapled booklet that was at Gen Con. Instead of flipping pages back and forth to figure out what is being referenced, the info flows and makes sense because it is right next to the page to which the info is referring. Love when design form follows function.
If you haven’t gotten yourself to a demo at a convention, check to see if your FLGS has any copies of GTM in stock. There’s also a four page article with FF artwork!
I can feel Chaosmancer's pain; my LGS is really actually just "Magic: the Gathering shop". Great if you want to play Magic, terrible for literally anything else.
Never seen them there, must just be dense. Then again, I've never had a reason to look for them before so I might just not have known where to look in the store.
At Epic Loot Springfield, they're at the front of the store, near the comics.
At Bookery, they're on the games side, near the new releases--they may have moved, there. It's been about 6 months since I've been to Bookery, actually.
Oh, and for the record--I'm actively avoiding your other thread. I went to read it, saw your first few lines, and immediately left the thread. :P
Ooh, thanks! I can live without the Tachyon stuff since it'll be in the eventual starter kit anyway...
I really like Tachyon's new look the better a glance I get at it. Unity's look is pretty sharp, too. And I like the little character description blurbs in the corners of the booklets' front covers.
Re: Tachyon’s art, I am LOVING her running shoes. I’d be willing to bet that in the universe in which Sentinels is published, there’s a crossover pair of running shoes looking like those but made by Schmike, so “you too can run like Tachyon!”. I would’ve bought them in a heartbeat.
You can really tell the difference of bodytypes the characters have with this new art. Tachyon has a slim runners build from years of speeding about versus Wraith who's a bit thicker and stockier from her physical training and martial arts practices. And as always we have the pinacle of the human physical form, Legacy. Dude is pretty buff.
I've always loved the art Adam makes for us, but I also love how you can really see his style evolve over the course of Multiverse, Tactics and the RPG.
I looked up the "Warriors of the Mystic Realms" and found the blurb from Metatopia 2014:
[ALPHA TEST] "Warriors of the Mystic Realms" by Critical-Hits Studios, LLC; presented by Dave Chalker. Relive the glory of the '80s in this homage to Saturday morning cartoons, B-movie fantasy, and cheesy superhero action. In Warriors of the Mystic Realms, you play one of these Chosen, men and women gifted with fantastic and magical powers, joined together to destroy the Anti-Matter Monarch and his fiendish cross-dimensional minions. Lift your Lazer Sword! Grasp your Rocket Rifle! And summon the Valiant Hordes of Meggidon! Friday, 10:00PM - 12:00AM; Fun, 18 & Over ONLY.
Interestingly there was a short Marvel series called "Hero: Warrior of the Mystic Realms" in 1990.
