How do I use Setback's "High Risk Behavior"?

Can someone explain the first sentence of Setback's "High Risk Behavior" card using one sentence per +1 being assigned to a target (or in any way that makes it easier to parse)?

Every three tokens in your unlucky pool is worth +1 damage modifier, both in damage dealt and damage taken

You gain or loose a token at the begining of your turn (your choice)

Basically, when Setback deals damage to a villain target, he increases it by 1 for every 3 tokens he has in his pool. So 9 tokens will give a +3. It also increases damage dealt by villain targets to Setback by 1 for every 3 tokens in his pool.

Has a hunter and hunted feel in a different way sounds like great potential.

Yeah, the most important part (Christopher and I worked on the wording of this forever) is that it does NOT increase damage he deals to himself (Setback does a lot of that), only to villain targets and from villain targets.  It also doesn't affect damage he deals to the envrionment, but self-damage is way more relevant for him.

wow… i didnt even notice that. i just saw it as a blanket +1 and was self damaging accordingly… that card went from cool to awesome now!

Wrong Time and Place also changed from the proof version, I noticed when playing last night.  It's now the first time a hero target would take damage each turn, you can choose to redirect to Setback, who can then choose whether or not to redirect.  It was a monster card playing against the V5 (and keeping the unlucky pool under control with Looking Up out)

I don't have the card in front of me at the moment (and as you said, it changed from the proof, which I have a copy of), but I'm pretty sure the redirection to Setback is NOT optional, only whether or not he further redirects it.

I don't think you actually get to redirect it to Setback, if that card is in play you either redirect it to Setback or remove tokens to redirect it to another target. If you do not remove tokens, then Setback will be taking damage.

Hi all,

I apologize for a slight thread necro, but I have a question that goes along with this card.  How is the damage boost from high risk behaviour affected by token counts that aren't multiples of three.  For example, if i have 4 unlucky tokens, am I at +1 or +2.

In a broader sense, is there a stated rule for rounding numbers in Sentinels?  I am not sure if there are other cards that would encounter this issue.

Thanks!

First Post!

Don't think of it as rounding. You are just counting the groups of 3 that you have. You would get +1 for every complete set of 3 tokens that you have. Partial sets don't contribute anything. So:

Tokens / Boost
1/0
2/0
3/1
4/1
5/1
6/2
7/2
8/2
9/3
...

You gain +1 for every three tokens. At 4 tokens your +damage is still just +1 until you get at least 6, then that second set of three tokens gives another +1, ect.

Welcome to the forums!

cool, thanks for the clarification, guys!
