Infinite damge

Was wondering if the infinite damge combo that Argant Adept can pull off has been brought up here on the forum before or not?

We were playing against Akshabuta in Freedom tower with Argent Adept, Parse, and The Sentinels.  So it was a fairly slow going game.

We managed to get enough cards being drawn that AA had his draw deck down rather low but he had not yet had a single arcane cadance when we noticed an interesting combo.  When he did pull one he played it got the next one so played it, and then again and again and again.  At which point he did not have enough cards in his deck to draw the 5 so he had to reshuffle.  Because he had 3 in his discard and not to much else he got lucky and was able to keep playing them.  From the way I read it if you are suppose to draw five but only have 4 cards left in your deck and and discard then you would just pick one of the 5 places to not put a card.  Thus you could get all your cards into you hand if you can keep drawing an arcane cadance on every play of it.

So then on the last draw the card he played was Silver Shadow, this let his use an accomapny text which he used as let anouther play a card.  He used this on Parse who used Recompile.  She had 3 critical multipliers out so she got +9 damage on her next attack.  Silver Shadow then let him play anotuher card.  So he did the second Silver Shadow.  Same thing again.  Then for the card play on that one he plays Arcane Cadance.  This lets him draw both Silver Shadows back.  Put one into play the other into his hand.  Do an Accompany, and play the Arcane Cadance again.  This time you get an AC and a SS.  SS into play AC into you hand.  We could then just contine this as much as we would like since Parse was discarding 3 and drawing 6 each time she very quickly got the the point where it was just recompiles in her deck.  We then ended by Parse just playing an attack card and hitting Akshabuta for an infinite amount of damage.

I am sure there are other characters that would work as well with AA to kill the boss in 1 turn if not in a single hit.  Or for that matter he could even do it him self as long as the boss had no damage reduction as he could just use his accompany of deal 1 target 1 damage as many times as needed.

Of course this is not easy to do as you have to get Argent Adept to have nearly all his cards out or in his hand.  But if you can do that the game is over.  :)

Has anyone else ever found any combo that is as crazy as this?

Unfortunately, Arcane Cadence doesn't have you draw 5 cards, it has you reveal 5 cards.  But you only shuffle your trash and make it the deck when drawing or discarding from the deck—revealing cards doesn't cause you to shuffle your trash into your deck.  So if you use Arcane Cadence when you have fewer than 5 cards in your deck, you just reveal however many cards there are.  And you process the text of effects in order, so if you've only revealed 4 cards, that should just mean that first you put 1 in your hand, then 1 on top of your deck, etc., in that order, until you run out of revealed cards.  Playing a card is the last part of Arcane Cadence's effect, so if you reveal 4 or fewer cards you won't get to play 1.

Unfortunately there are several problems with your Arcane Cadence loop

Arcane Cadence is not a draw, it is a reveal. If you run out of cards in your deck you stop revealing cards and deal with just the ones you have revealed.

You do the things in order, so you would not get to the "and play 1." instruction if you only had 4 cards left in your deck.

Also, the Arcane Cadence is not put into the discard pile until it has finished resolving, which includes the card you put into play resolving too. As an example if you had play an Arcane Cadence and it plays Vernal Sonata the Arcane Cadence is still in play, and not in the discard pile to put back on top of your deck.

Ninja'ed! By a mere 10 minutes.

While the Argent part doesn't work and there's no infinite, this does bring up an interesting possibility for Parse, getting her deck so thin that she can Recompile repeatedly.  It seems like the kind of thing she might enjoy doing, an appropriately "cheat code" way for a computer-themed hero to win, but I'd imagine it's not easy to pull off.  Gives me something to try for when playing her, tho.

OK thanks for the info.  I looked at it some more but the fact that a card you play does not go into your discard pile until it is compleatly done including all the other cards and or powers it causes you to do finish as well meens it can never work no matter how perfect the set up is.  If not for that under just the right conditions you could do still do it, but it would be a lot harder.

Oh well.  :)

And yes as Parse if you can get your deck small you can add +24 damage a turn by having 3 critical multipliers you, snap decsision to play a recompile, then your normal play is a recompile as well, then if there is an ongoing or enviroment to destroy you can trhow away one more.  So 8 cards times 3 each.  Then if any one on the team can let you play more cards or the eniroment or villain make you throw any way it can often get to be more than that.

There are a number of enviroments that can let you draw extra, Team Leader Tacyon, The Idealists signiture power.  Omnitron-X's play your top card.  With the right team set up you can get most of your cards into your hand or out on the table in about 7-9 turns.

So yeah Parse can be crazy awesome damage.  :)

Parse is cool for damage, yeah :). But you can technically get infinite damage by other means - the wonderful game-changer that is Fixed Point. With this, Ab'Zero can continually hit himself over and over again with er...some kind of power setup that I can't remember specifically...but you hit yourself, which means you can hit yourself again, which means you can hit yourself again, etc (I suppose you could also do this with the Isothermic Transducer and a Twist from Visionary, so you deal yourself fire damage with your base power, then Twist turns the Transducer's cold damage into fire and you hit yourself again, repeat until bored). You can go as far into the minus figures as you want but you won't die because of Fixed Point. Eventually you build up a massive charge (it's either Thermal Shockwave or Coolant Blast, I can't remember which) and unleash it for many many many damages and the villain turns into a little burn mark on the wall :). Fanatic can build up some hefty damage by similar means if everyone just gangs up on her deliberately to get her as far into negative hp as possible, then she lets loose with a Wrathful Retribution for All of the Damage :D.
