I have been looking to acquire the branch & claw expansion but for the life of me cannot find it available anywhere. Even checking ebay there are only a couple of listings for it in Italian, which unfortunately I don’t speak.
Is there currently any way to obtain the expansion? Or would the only option currently be to DIY it from online references?
I see 144 copies listed as available for trade on Board Game Geek. Of course, there’s also 1500+ wishlist requests, so arranging a trade may not be easy. Still a place to start.
You are aware that GTG has been shuttered by its owners, Flat River Group, right? All new production is on indefinite hold, so stuff is just going to get rarer and rarer as time goes by.
Oh, and welcome aboard the forum, for whatever that’s worth. Good luck on your game hunt.
I’ve not heard of boardgamegeek before so I will have a look through that, thank you
Also I wasn’t aware of the shutdown, that is good to know, thank you!
Thanks!
I also found a couple of websites that list it, but they both list it only as backorders, so I don’t know when or even if they’ll get it back in stock:
- Branch & Claw Expansion: Spirit Island | Toys | Toy Street UK
Also, FWIW, the the announcement about GTG’s reduction / shutdown / whatever you choose to call it did say it part:
the Greater Than Games website will remain operational, with in-stock products available to order. Goods in the current catalog will still be produced as needed.
…
Parent company Flat River Group will continue to support its retail and distribution partners through ongoing communication and fulfillment services, as always.
So this might mean that they’ll do more print runs of already-published products? I really can’t say; the whole thing is full of tons of unknowns, and any speculation would probably be on pretty shaky grounds at best.
Welcome to the forum, and hope this helps.
Theoretically, but Branch & Claw came out in 2017, and if there’s one thing I can say for sure about Spirit Island it’s that availability of products has been wildly uneven for years. I don’t think there’s been occasion in the 2020s where I’ve gone to the FLGS and they’ve had everything in stock for it despite their best efforts to do so. The owner’s constantly complaining about the range being hard to stock and distribution being out of it, and that can’t be getting any better with the current situation.
I mean, just look at the disparities between “have” and “want” on the BGG pages for the stuff. Those kind of numbers are not the kind you see for games where the publisher is keeping up with production smoothly.
Oh dear, I may have sent you to a rabbit hole…nay, rabbit warren you may never escape from if you’re a fan of boardgames. It’s quite a stunning database over there. Have fun…but budget wisely, I guess?
