Just finished Conspiracy of Clones

Just finished Conspiracy of Clones. It was okay, it didn’t really fit my groups vibe very well and I’m very happy to be onward to doing more personalized content for them.

I will say i was VERY WORRIED at the end there, that fight was getting out of pocket with 1 person at 0, and everyone in single digits while Biomancer was still mostly full and had a dozen+ minions.

I was like “wow this is WAY wild, I don’t think this encounter is balanced correctly.”

And then the RED POWERS happened and it was glorious and epic and they did manage to Win.

So I should have more faith! Great stuff!

Yeah, when the Reds kick in (especially Red combos) that’s the heroes’ time to shine. If your players are fairly new to the game I find it can be helpful to remind them that they can opt to take a minor twist (or burn a collection) to use an ability one GYRO zone early. It’s costly and sometimes won’t work well (like when your Reds are very combo-dependent) but popping a Red ability while you’re in Yellow has been decisive in more than a few scenes I’ve seen.

And if the baddies roll hot on you round 1 it can become an option while the scene is still in the Green, even. “I told you you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry!”

Yeah, the SCRPG’s GYRO system is one of its more unique and cooler mechanics. Rather than hindering a character when they get beaten down in HP like some systems, it instead mimics the heightening tensions oft-found in superheroic stories.
