While I played the game twice before (with a friend who introduced me to the game), this is the tale of my first game with my own deck of cards. (apologies in advance for not knowing specific card names and instead opting to keep this somewhat general, and also apologies for typeos as i am typing this without much editing since i am supposed to be working right now rather than thinking about last night's game)…
(The setup)
Legacy was on patrol in Megalopolis when he heard Baron Blade had constructed a beam to pull the moon into the earth. Clearly Legacy could not let this stand but knew from past experience that backup would be helpful. Unfortunately, the rest of the Freedom Five was busy with a crisis elsewhere and the only help our hero could find came in the form of Ra, an archeologist-turned egyptian-god vessel who was on a layover at the airport enroute to Egypt (because, you know, even egyptian-gods can appreciate the mundane). And so Legacy and Ra hurried off to stop Baron Blade and his evil scheme.
(The count down)
Legacy was the consumate leader, directing Ra for the best openings and angles to shoot from. Being Blade's nemesis did not help Legacy much as he was not directly assaulting the scientist and Blade's anger towards Legacy after the years of conflict just made the scientist hit Legacy that much harder. Thankfully, Legacy's inherited industructability helped slow down the damage he took.
Ra was strong, but it took him a while to draw enough solar power to really shine (no pun intended) so, between that build up, the various impending disasters and casualties going on from the fallout of the fight in the city, and the waves of minions, it was a long while before the mobile platform was destroyed. Finally the platform was destroyed and in time the beam was destroyed a mere minute before count down was complete (14 cards in villain trash) - Baron Blade howled in anger and he turned his full attention on the heroes.
(the vengeful scientist)
No longer distracted by use of the machine, Baron Blade went full force on Legacy and Ra. The wrath of the scientist caused any number of local casulaties that also needed to be dealt with (at one point we had environment cards that prevented us from drawing cards AND another card that prevented us from playing powers) and thus the heroes were too distracted by thier moral need to save the citizens first.
In the final minutes of combat, Ra was incapacitated by Blade. This act emboldened Legacy to deal with the various hostage situations and casualties that were preventing him using his own full power all this time. But it was not fast enough as Blade managed to hasten Legacy's doom with direct assults and more minions, leading, ultimately, to Legacy's own fall.
(the victory…for Baron Blade)
With Ra and Legacy defeated, Baron Blade laughed maniacally as he directed his minions to begin collecting pieces of the broken lunar beam so that he could rebuild it and attempt his scheme again before other would-be heroes arrived to try and stop him again …
But fear not citizens of the multiverse, all hope is not lost… for other heroes are indeed on their way to try and take down Blade and avenge thier fallen comrades…
