Lightning Shield Vs. Redirected Damage

Scenario: Baron Blade (alt. Card) vs. Tachyon

Blade does X damage, equal to number of cards in the trash, and has his Lightning Shield Ongoing card in place.

Tachyon has her shield card (I forget the name) out that lets her redirect damage from a single source that is 3 or more.

Blade does 5 damage, which Tachyon then redirects back to Blade, who has his lightning shield up.

All of this is actually happening during the Villain Turn

Question:  The Lightning shield: The first time Blade would be dealt damage each turn, Blade deals the source of the damage 3 lightning damage.  Blade himself is the actual 'source' of the damage, Tachyon simply whipped it back at him and didn't actually attack him.  He technically just attacked himself, so would he then also deal himself the 3 lightning damage from the shield?

The intent of the Lightning shield is obviously to damage Heroes who attack Blade, but the actual wording of the cards seems to imply the above scenario.  So, intent vs. strict wording?

That is exactly what would happen. If you manage to redirect Baron Blade's damage to himself, his Backlash Field would trigger, thus hitting himself again. Sounds like Baron Blade needs to do some extra adjustments.

That would make a great moment in a comic book.  When he realizes his attack is going to hit him, and his backlash field will follow it's programming and hit him too.  The look on his face.
