Is a target its own ally?
That is, Living Force Field Generators provide +2 defense to "allies within two hexes." Does the force field generator benefit from its own effect?
Pretty sure the answer is yes, but we've been playing a lot of 4th edition D&D recently where "your allies" excludes you.

No, targets are not allies with themself. So Living Force Field does not give itself +2 defense.
A second force field generator in range will cause them to boost each other.

The Glossary defines an ally as "A character or target on your team", which, interpreted literally, would make you your own ally. If that's not the intent, there should be errata.
Let's look at some other wordings:
Affect the character and allies:
Mass Levitation: The Visionary and all Allies have mobility
Healing light: Citizen Dawn and each ally . . .
Galvanize: You or an ally in line of sight . . .
Motivational Charge: You and each ally . . .
Inspiring Presence: You and each ally . . .
Sub-Zero Atmosphere: Absolute Zero and his allies . . .
Expert Tactician: You and each ally . . .
Affects Allies but not the Character:
Luminous Leadership: Each Ally in Citizen Dawn's line of sight . . .
Brisk Effulgence: Each Ally in Citizen Dawn's line of sight . . .
