My first forum post. Relatively nervous. Nice to meet all of you.
On the Kickstarter page -- which I happily supported as my first Kickstart pledge ever :) -- I noticed that the Oblivaeon add-on will include
A "Mission" deck full of quests the heroes embark on to gain allies and tools to aid them in the conflict!
Any word on what "mission deck" means?
Will we be able to use these with other villains or only with Oblivaeon, Aeon and Scions?
What I'm really wondering is ... Can I use mission decks in an old-fashioned fight between Baron Blade and Legacy, Absolute Zero, the Wraith, Tachyon and Bunker?
I am guessing they are OblivAeon only. Allowing their rewards in normal games would probably lead to drastic imbalance - but perfectly suited for games involving exchanges of 5000 irreducible damage.
From what GTG has said they are probably cards with objectives on one side (analogous to Warfang’s Title Deck), which when completed and flipped over reveals rewards (like that gawdhueg cannon in a recent art stream).
Oh well. It would have been cool to have them in normal games.
In fact, I'm officially throwing my considerable clout (ha) behind a suggestion to add a "mission card" option to all Sentinel Games -- with a lot of playtesting, of course.
As we all know–there's nothing they can do about house rules! If it works for your gaming style and you find it fun. Than do it. I know I've read several people who use the Title deck outside Kaarfang battles. So why not? That doesn't mean it will be balanced for it or that it will have official rules. But it's a game…so play it how you and your companions want!
Well with the information given us, the mission rewards give allies and weapons that make Defeating Oblivean possible, without them you can't win. House rules would apply if you really want to try them with regular villains, but I imagine they'd have to be tweaked significantly.
Maybe a similar concept could be implemented in a way that wasn't OP against normal Villains. I'm sure as soon as we see the OblivAeon versions, people will come up with ideas for just such a mod.
house rules : Rules outside of the original rule book. Basically playing however you want. Like in monopoly getting 400 if you land on go or in ticket to ride making it so you can ick another card up when you picked a face up wild.
Sentinels, your goal is to ensure Greater than Games continues making expansions to the card game. You must succeed at all cost. The fate of a billion fanboys/girls rests in your super-powered hands.
well I'm sure once they're out determined players will come up with ways to do it. Whether it's specific conditions for the current villain or whatever. The rewards will probably be modified too. Not every will try to but you can guarantee a few will try.
