Okay! Just played my fourth games and my daughter and I had a great time! I played Scholar and she played Fanatic (with a support deck, H=3) and we took on Ambuscade on Insula Primis, and it was definitly memorable! I can't remember the exact play-by-play, but it went something like this:
1. The game started out with us getting our butts kicked by the devices that Ambuscade started with. Then he kept putting more of them out there and it was NOT looking good. I was thinking to myself, Crap, maybe I should be playing a third hero here...
2. My daughter figgured out that the immedite threat was not Ambuscade's shield but rather his devices that were attacking us (she's only 7, but I let her figure a lot of stuff on her own and she enjoys it more that way). So she (Fanatic) started attacking the devices and not the shields. Oh, and she pulled her relic sword out and the environment was buffing everyone's damage.
3. I (Scholar) started to get something going as well. The damage that Ambuscade was dealing kept going to the highest hit point hero, which was me at that time (we were going back and forth on HP until I just happened to have more). Well, I started putting down cards that made it to where I absorbed zero damage. We felt like we were starting to get the situation under control.
4. My little girl pulls out End of Days and Ambuscade said, "Oh snap." The board was wiped clean: no shields, no devices, nothing for anyone. It hurt Ambuscade a lot more than it hurt us.
5. Ambuscade couldn't really recover and Fanatic was down to 15 points when she pulled Wrathful Retribution (I think that's the name of it). It took him down 15 hit points, the difference between her current HP and her max HP. Anyways, at that point we pretty much had him beat.
6. We won!
It was great because we thought we were toast and then it all came together.
My little girl and I were feeling strong after Ambuscade, so we decided to take on La Capitan. Oh boy.
Well, it seemed like no time had passed and there was about 7 minions out there, all pounding us to death. Somehow we survived, and she once again played End of Days and wiped out everything. Then we were able to focus on La Capitan, but she was hitting us back. Then my daughter got down to 3 hit point, and then she played Wrathful Retribution - awesome! Somehow, we wound up winning, I had 1 HP and she had 3.
Yeah, La Capitán makes for some tense games. When it comes to telling an interesting story, I think she ranks in my top 3. Congratulations on the win. I wish I could say I was so lucky my first time.
Lol, sounds like you're having some fun games with Fanatic there :). Akash'Bhuta is a prime target for End of Days as well, once she gets a bunch of limbs out. We were once fighting her and she had quite a few limbs out so we decided "Okay, let's just End of Days it because we won't lose that much stuff and she'll take a load of damage…". She also had By Any means on her (one of Chrono Ranger's bounties which causes its target to take +1 damage from everything), so when we used End of Days we conveniently decided to destroy all the limbs first, [/i]then[/i] By Any Means, meaning that she hit herself for +1 damage for every limb destroyed. End damage total was something like 105 or something, which left her on about 42hp. Satisfying! :D.
