This is a strange time to be creating a new fan deck, given that this forum could be deleted tomorrow, but as I continue my podcast relisten, I’ve been struck with occasional inspirations, and they’ve coalesced over the course of today to become a hero concept that’s perfect for filling one of the holes in the Sentinelverse. It’s a pretty different type of character, but I’m a pretty different kind of fan, and you can work with someone or something that’s very different from yourself; just because I don’t always share the vision of the creators doesn’t mean I can’t love the game, I do indeed love the game, and I love this new character concept.
Without further ado beyond this paragraph, here we go. Since not even a Turkish language version of the Mystery Comics stories is a detective comics magazine about a superhero who’s a batman, I’m not going to tell you the meta-metaverse equivalent to this character… but it won’t take you that long to figure it out.
There, digest that character card for a few ticks, and in the very near future (assuming the forum doesn’t disappear), I’ll start either adding more posts or editing this post, adding cards one at a time, flavor text and all - I already have a half dozen or so in mind, so filling out the fifteenish unique cards in a deck won’t take long.
EDIT: Spoilered for invisibility to protect any non-casual viewer from casually viewing anything they’re not allowed to non-casually viewed (I think that’s right).
EDIT 2: Not welcomed among the people who remain loyal to absent leadership, and thus removed in order to remain in compliance with a currently unenforceable policy, because apparently that’s what “everyone” (I apparently don’t count) wants.
Edit - hopefully you see nothing between the opening and closing lines.
EDIT 2-3: Okay, that works once per line. So as a kludge I’ve put the whole post on one line; that’ll do until I know more about what I’m doing. But it puts at least a temporary kibosh on my plan to publicize any more cards for this deck.
Edit 4: Removed as per the overwhelming consensus of like three people.
I can’t find where the rules are on these “new” forums, but fan creations are unfortunately not allowed for legal reasons. BoardGameGeek and Reddit are better places to share this.
Sorry, LonelyMan! But he’s right: There’s a great community of folks on BoardGameGeek and Reddit for this kind of discussion.
Unfortunately, I’m no longer a Mod so I can’t delete this thread. You’ll have to delete it yourself or wait until someone else who has that ability can do so.
The company isn’t here anymore, so I don’t see any harm. And I have serious issues with BGG that will likely make its use impossible, whereas I’ve never used Reddit and may very well be unable to access it. I know there’s a spoiler fashion, I could put everything under spoiler tags so that it’s not accessible to C&A in case they come on this forum, but I don’t know why they would anyway since the company has parted from the game. I don’t know if Paul is even involved anymore, or if he stayed with Flat River after they ditched >G; the grumpy lawyers in 2011 are very likely indeed not to be in the picture anymore, and we don’t know whether any others have replaced them at this point or ever will.
For the moment, the character has been stretched, squashed, and stuffed into a couple invisible boxes. Hopefully that prevents any legal liability; should the title alone not prevent C or A or P or anyone else with IP entanglements from glimpsing an idea they don’t own, all they have to do is not highlight the page, and then they can truthfully claim that they didn’t see anything, did see nothing, and non-literally didn’t see nuthin’ neither.
Okay. I have a lot of extreme negative emotions about this dictate, and the old me who hadn’t been in therapy for over a decade would definitely have posted an extremely angry and bitter rant here, which would likely have resulted in some backlash that wouldn’t make anyone happy. But I like to think I have grown somewhat since the rough old days, so I’m gonna try and get some silver lining out of this cloud. So here’s the deal.
When I get home, I will edit the first two of my posts here, and remove any information concerning a character trapped in a multiverse he never published (which was totally not going to be his tagline as a hero). But! I do know that fanfic featuring canonical SCU characters is totally allowed. So, all the the extremely vicious things I am tempted to say about this forum, I will instead channel that energy and attempt to write a bittersweet tragic story about the last days of Silver Gulch, when Sherrif Jim Brooks is mysteriously gone, his former deputy Sheriff Pratt is getting too old for this, the big company that funded all the operations of the town has pulled out, and the last few people in a clearly dying settlement muse about what meaning still remains to their lives as the sun sets on their entire milieu, leaving them to face a bleak future of uncertain duration.
Hopefully that will not break any rules, enforced or otherwise, and will bring some at least poetic virtue to a situation where, otherwise, there really wouldn’t have been any winners.
