Off duty hero wear

Ever wondered what Tachyon wears when she’s being neither a hero nor a scientist?
Well, I found her shoes and I WANT THEM!

I kind of giggled at the fact that the original price was $102. I wonder why the didn’t just even it out at $100. I would be too scared to wear shoes at that price also. $15 or less is the most I go and boy do they get torn up before I replace them.

I actually haven’t given much dedicated thought to that, but it’s coming to me now that I do. A few of them are obvious - Ra has it on one of his cards, Absolute Zero doesn’t have a whole lot of options, Tachyon actually wears her civvies under her lab coat on Research Grant but it’s pretty much waist-up. Given the character’s origins, she’s dressed business formal almost all the time. Bunker has his fatigues, Tempest I assume has some sort of holographic normal-person camoflage, Legacy has normal street clothes (even though he’s shown in his kitchen with his costume on). Wraith does formal for social events but business casual for the day-to-day grind. I actually have no idea about Haka, Visionary, or Fanatic. I wouldn’t be surprised if Fanatic sleeps in her armor.

I would imagine Haka would probably wear the same thing or at least similar to his usual costume, if it is dresswear based on his original tribe.

Visionary probably has some sort of futuristic unitard getup.

Yeah I could see maybe spending $80 on nice boots, but not a pair of fairly basic flats, for all that they have totally sweet wings on them.

Having worked in an academic research setting, I think that Dr. Stinson could totally get away with those shoes. I imagine that particle physics labs are not high on chemicals/biohazards, and the shoes are closed toed so they pass OSHA. Plus, she probably spends a lot of time in meetings as she apparently has all of her funding from the feds and they love their meetings.

I imagine The Wraith wears suits with vests to the office, and my guess is that she’s not big on heels (butt kicking is severely impeded by high heels).

I call Paul Parsons as a Bill-Cosby-Sweater wearer.

I’d totally buy the sweater, but I can tell you empirically, Tachyon dresses full-on business formal and specifically takes pride in doing so. Especially when going to bars.

The problem with business casual at the bar is that it makes it awfully hard to dance, and she seems like a dancer to me :stuck_out_tongue:

Dr. Meredith Stinson always finds it important to business suit up before going out. She even wears a silk business suit for sleeping.

Now that’s just taking it a bit too far…

I agree that it’s taking it too far, but it’s 100% true that she does so.

I still maintain that both Maia Montgomery and Dr. Stinson wear flats to the office - they both seem entirely too even keeled and heroically minded to want to be caught in a situation wherein they need to fight crime and have trouble due to footwear. (And I just don’t see them carrying around those purse-bar-slippers.)

Agreed on Maia Montgomery. Dr. Stinson wears very short heels, as it takes her less than a second to run to her locker and get her flats.

These are superheroes we’re talking about. They can wear heels and still fight crime if they want. Plus, I’m guessing that Maia uses hers as improvised boomerangs.

Although The Wraith kicks major butt, she isn’t Super Powered, she is super powerful. Have you ever tried to run in heels? Or kick? Or do much of anything? (If so, video or it didn’t happen!)

Besides, taking off your shoe to throw it (WHO THROWS A SHOE!?!) takes so much time when instead you could have a weapon in your purse, or a knife in your belt or… best idea ever jewelry that doubles as weapons. Think of it! A necklace where the charm detaches and is a stun bolt, or a cuff the clasp of which is a dart - that’s the sort of jewelry I think Maia Montgomery would wear.
