This may have come up at some point, and if it did, I apologize for bring it up again.
I mainly play with the Oversized Villain cards when playing SOTM, and I think they're excellent and make the board a lot clearer than playing with the normal villains, which sit on the table and can be hard to read.
That being said, as I've been learning the game, I can't always remember the hero powers, and I feel like having Oversized Heroes would be a net positive to the game. Has there been any thought of making these at some point (even if it's after the last expansion comes out)? Thanks for your time :)
Devil's advocate: If they're reprinting the heroes at the end anyway, why not print them oversized? This way, the originals don't lose their value because there's a cheaper "regular-sized" option.
Cost, I'd imagine. The retail on the Oversized Villain Packs is $15, and an Oversized Hero Pack would be at least twice the number of cards, not to mention the graphic design/overlay. So I'd expect the MSRP of that to be around that of a full expansion or more and I don't know if the profit margin would be worth it to print it. Also, the villains almost need the Oversized because they have so much text whereas the heroes just have their power and incaps.
What would be the purpose of oversized hero cards? The oversized villain cards serve a practical purpose, since with standard cards require two cards while having a lot of small text, whereas the oversized villain cards only require one card and allow for larger text.
That’s usually only particularly relevant for the first round or two, though. Most heroes quite quickly stop using their base power in favor of ongoings/equipment with more potent powers printed on them. Do you propose making the entire deck oversized? Because that’s what it would take if you wanted to read all the powers available to every other hero at a glance.
Fixer, Guise, the Sentinels, and Skyscraper never stop using their base powers
Nightmist, Tachyon, Unity, the Visionary, the Naturalist, and Captain Cosmic get other powers, but their base power typically stays relevant through the entire game.
I'd also argue that those that would care enough to bother printing out the oversized hero cards probably already are pretty familiar with the different hero base powers as it is... Not to mention the vast majority of base powers are very simple (not all of them, but almost all of them are).
