Player Characters: who will you be?

Well, Paul seems to have given you your answer, but I'll just add that I seem to remember Christopher mentioning the exotic mesons travelling "through the planet", so I see no particular reason that you couldn't have isoflex alpha forming in England.  Be warned heroes, the villain Red Coat is coming!

I was thinking of creating a modern geometric mage who uses Feynman diagrams instead of circles,Pentagon's eric to do his magic

I know I must wait for Christopher, but they built more of those reactors didn't they.

That could be the part of the "we'll talk about the reactor more in the future section" that they forgot, or purposefully left out for a later reveal.

Wonder who figured it out or if the scientist who was "destroyed" comes back ala Mr. Manhattan

That sounds cool

Never thought that was a problem. Every Hero is the exception to the rule. I would like to add that omegas are not an end-all. For the RPG I am sure they will Create a large number to reason on how one got their power. May events can happen to cause your powers. Any story can be a backstory because you are the exception. So there is no need to fight, it is pseudoscience after all.

For instance this radical Idea.

To play a Biomancer Clone who gained independence and wants to be good. Having to struggle with identity issue and to show to others that you are not a clone and are here to help.

Power Source made.

I would like to point out that Howard the Duck is in the Marvel universe because of a Nexus of realities in the Florida Swamps. (C&A you are onto something)

I only brought up England for the sake of example, but now I feel like it wil disappoint if I DON'T make an Omega from England! :stuck_out_tongue:

Then may I introduce, ripped from the pages of Sentinel Comics London: Big Ben! The clock-work contorting villain and his legions of wind-up wounders!

One of my most favorite villains, which I wrote into Cold Steel Wardens: Rogues Gallery, is Dr. Jeramy Hendricks.  Hendricks is a mathematician, specializing in irrational numbers and multi-dimensional geometry.  He's also an egocentric madman who's obsessed with proving himself right.  He has a preternatural ability to maniplate irrational mathematics to induce madness in those that are exposed to it.  He literally uses math to drive men mad.

It's a fun time.

Oh no!  But who will stop this diaclockical mastermind?  Perhaps a new young hero will emerge?

Young Gabe always dreamed of serving his country, hoping to qualify for the elite SAS and fight for Britain overseas.  But his snarky, rebel-against-authority, wise-cracking attitude meant that didn’t even pass the admission.  Upset with himself, he threw away his replica SAS uniform while walking home.  A few hours later, after seeking comfort in a local pub, he decided to retrieve his uniform so that he could at least sell it.  Unfortunately, he found only the pants, which were wet and sitting in a puddle.  Upon putting them on, Gabe was transformed into a strong fighter, while his “class clown” attitude was exaggerated.  Believing the pants to have been the source of his power, Gabe became a hero and took on the name SASsy Pants!

Sonds like my 9th grade math teacher.

Oh my god, that hurts my brain. In a good way.

Oh yeah, but it's fun to nitpick and drive down into the bed rock of things like this.

Or at least it is for me.

And I love the idea of a Biomancer Clone turned good, but then, one must wonder, who are they a clone of?

I love the idea of the clone being made of a person who was injured in the Oblivaeon event, maybe someone who had some political clout or Biomancer was experimenting on giving powers to an unpowered individual's clone. The clone goes rogue, but the original is in a coma in a hospital. You take the place of this person, how do you interact with their friends and family? Do you pretend, sparing them the pain of losing more (perhaps only a sibling survived the attack, and if you weren't real they would have lost everyone.) After all, your twin in the hospital (how else would you explain this to the doctors, luckily the medical records are spotty after Oblivaeon) is most likely never going to wake up from their coma. It would be irresponsible, not heroic, to harm their family. And, isn't it nice to find people in the world who care for you and rely on you.

Then, inevitably, something goes wrong. Your Twin disappears from the hospital, or someone begins to blackmail you, or your nature is revealed after a colossal battle. The foundations of your life begin crumbling away and the final question comes out. What are you willing to do to keep the life you had?

I seriously need to use this character for something now.

HI! I'm new and I have a few additions to this thread. I have a few ideas myself.

X-metal: my go to superhero who I'vebeen refining for years. Ever since I was like five or six. Maybe seven. Basically the origin I have for him is that he's a guy in a metal suit who gained the metal suit through a test by an evil company. Oh! And the suit is implanted into his skin so that it retracts and detracts into his body.

Actually that's all vet or for now but ill be back.

I recently had an idea for a hero.

His name is Jersey Devil, a hero originating from the NJ Pinebarrens. The powerset I'm thinking for him would be a mixture of high agility, illusions and fire control. He'd sort of be a "I go where I'm needed" style hero that works in secret with the police, but once the call for heroes from Megalopolis goes out, he'll show up to at least receive special training, figuring he'll head back home after a lesson or two. But who knows what villainous plot could call him to stay?

I have more ideas!

The Titan Prometheus! Or so he claims to be. He has super strength and a jar of clay that lets him make golems (yes I know unity can do that too but originality is hard sometimes) however it is likely he is just a pretender and not really Prometheus (since all we have is the Egyptian pantheon in sentinels)

I’m thinking of a character based on throwing cards. Acrobatic and precise, and – for an arcane element – can throw Tarot cards to activate spells or more potent attacks with them.

Two characters from old tabletop games that I would love to revive for a superhero style campaign.

Charles "Charlie" Edsall, former military officer who is a shape-shifter. Currently works as a private investigator and deal broker.

Ada Taylor, college student with an interest in computers. Occasionally she hears white noise in the back of her head and is convinced there are voices in there. Also, if she puts her left hand in just the right position, it releases an electric charge.

(If I ran a game, my goal would be to try something lower-powered, similar to a Dark Watch/Defenders, with a theme that you don't need to be super powered to do really heroic things.)

Yeah, that's one thing I keep thinking about.

When I play Cold Steel Wardens and other such games geared towards low powered settings, I want to go higher power.

While considering Sentinels RPG and it's leaning towards high powered shenanigans... I want to go lower power.

I'm just never happy I guess

I still think there's a certain appeal to me in the idea of more down-to-earth characters who do heroic things for more down-to-earth reasons, even if their actual powers end up being high-charged. Larger than life characters can risk ending up feeling more like archetypes who revolve around their powers more than actual characters.

The one superhero campaign I've always wanted to run is a Mystery Men-style street-crime, start-at-first-level sort. The big-name superhero team is ascending to a higher realm and needs to find replacements for themselves. Sure, there are other heroes filling in, but they're not from the city, they're all being taken away from their own deals. The best solution is to pick powered people local to the area who will understand the needs of the city as well as maybe be able to take on cosmic threats in a few years?

I know my player group and regardless of what they Say they're creating. It's going to wind up looking like Guardians of the Galaxy,

Rocket Raccoon : Why would you want to save the galaxy?

Peter Quill : Because I'm one of the idiots who lives in it!
