Recycle the environment and villain trash?

HI there,

Quick question from from a newbie.. When you run out of Villain or Environment cards to play, do you recycle the trash back into play?

You shuffle the trash and resume playing the deck.

When you need to draw next.  If you have a full trash and a card isn't played from the deck yet, you don't shuffle the trash into the deck.

thanks!

Also, as far as I'm aware, you only shuffle when you need to draw. If you're told to discard from the deck and there is no deck (because it's all in the trash), you instead do nothing. Most likely to be relevant (in the case of the environment) when you're fighting Akash'Bhuta :).

And Matriarch.

I'm pretty sure if something says to "discard" the top card of an empty deck, it forces a shuffle.  Discard, draw, and play all force a shuffle.  Only "reveal" does not.

Really? Oops...I'd been ignoring it if I was supposed to discard and the deck was empty...

Pretty sure.  I seem to remember Christopher describing that very action as part of an example using (as mentioned above) Akash'bhuta and the environment deck.  I couldn't point to the exact thread, but it was sometime during IR playtesting.

Hmm okay - I thought I'd read somewhere that you only shuffle when you need to draw a card, therefore a discard is something different.

Broccoli is correct. Discard, draw, and play all force a shuffle. Reveal does not.

Hope this helps!

Oh, thanks Christopher - looks like I've been getting Akash'Bhuta (among others) wrong all this time, lol. Oh well, now I know :).

Oh, good.  That tells me how to handle Spite's power-sapping drug reshuffling the deck.  Now, if only I knew whether that happened before or after the power actually happens, I'd be in business.

After.  I asked Christopher in a thread (it's in Spiff's FAQ) regarding Stun Bolt and the damage that accompanies that drug's effect.  He said the damage would be reduced by the Stun Bolt, so it happens after the power's effect.

I had no idea. This desperately needs to be in the Shattered Timelines rulebook (or in online versions of the existing rulebooks).

So does this overwrite the previous official ruling in the Silver Gulch thread? Here's a few quotes from that thread. Edited to avoid revealing too much about the environment.

Whoops! Yes! I misspoke there. I'm going to blame it on all the card creation nonsense. Teach me to not think through what I say!

Ignore that bit o' nonsense in the playtesting forum. Discard, draw, and play all reshuffle. Reveal does not.
