Scholar interrupts his own DDA...?

Right then, something unusual that came up in a game we played earlier...

Scholar played DDA. When this happens, we normally just go around each hero in turn order, so as Scholar was first, he revealed his top card. DDA again, so this interrupted the first DDA and Scholar revealed his top card again. Know when to Hold Fast - Draw five cards and end your turn.

So...then we were wondering whether the "End your turn" part cancelled the two unfinished DDAs because the Scholar's turn had ended. We decided that because the two DDAs were still in progress, they would still finish. So basically we skipped to the Scholar's End phase (as per Hold Fast), then finished off the two DDAs (both other heroes playing their top cards since rarely do we choose to put a card on the deck from the trash ;)), at whicpoint the Scholar's turn ended.

Did we do this right, or should the Hold Fast in fact have prevented the DDAs from finishing because the Scholar's Play phase had been abruptly ended?

Hmmm. Very interesting. I think you played it right. That's how I would have played it. But that's a great question.

I would also continue doing the DDA as normal.

I would do it the other way, end your turn and stop what you are currently doing, but I have no clue if that is the right way.

Well there is not a rule saying a heros card effect must resolve during their turn. There is nothing that would prevent DDA from resolving even if it was no longer scholars turn. This is not like a damage source being removed mid damage. That gets interrupted out of logical nessessity.

If scholars turn ends and those one shots are still in play, they resolve.

Yeah that was what we thought - the cards are in play therefore they would finish resolving even though it's no longer the Scholar's Play phase any more.

To me this is similar to DDA being played out of turn.  If this had all begun on some other player's turn (Argent Adept for instance), wouldn't you resolve them, even if something ended Argent Adept's turn prematurely?  I'm firmly in the "continue resolving DDA" camp.

I agree that this makes sense.  Broccoli touched on the idea that it isn't necessarily Scholar's turn when DDA gets played, therefore if KWTHF doesn't stop him from continuing the resolution when it's Argent's turn, why would it do so when this happens during his own turn?  Also if this were the case, it would mean that the order in which DDA plays were resolved would be hugely significant…you'd always want to have Scholar go last to avoid this risk, and I don't think it's consistent with the overall style of SOTM to make it THAT important which order each player does their DDA play in.

Oh god… people are agreeing again…

No we're not, don't be silly.

No, really; I think Humble-Knight has a valid point...

I’m changing my stance, in effect disagreeing with myself. I say we have reached a consensus, which is different from actively agreeing, that DDA resolves anyways. This allows me to disagree with both of you and thus set the multiverse back in balance

Well played, sir. Well played... ![](upload://yLgcUuvdVSvNCn9fqZATACRoLZQ.gif)

I'm glad we were all able to come to a suitable (dis)agreement* on this ;).

I'm not.

You are all wrong. DDA would finish resolving as normal. No agreements here.
