The Scholar was the first character I played and has endured as an extreme staple in many games. Progeny in the podcastwas described as having many forms including an Ice one and was able to shift the battle mechanics by shifting forms. This pretty much gives the mechanics resemblance to suit being the scholars nemesis considering his elemental forms.
Also Progeny was described as the hardest villain in WotC and well as much as the Scholar has probably the crappiest superhero suit ever he always projects this feeling that he's only there when shit really hits the fan. This could also link up to the alchemical symbol on the box. Could it mean that the thing that kinda looks like a planet eater could be an alchemical Humonculous of epic proportions? I know it's wild speculations but the guesswork to get the story components is as much fun as the game itself.
I think the green dude with the Dr. Doom face-mask that was shown being chased by Captain Cosmic in the "Preview of the Cosmic" topic is CC's nemesis. In fact, I think it is his lost twin brother who got touched by the same meteor energy as CC, but somehow his newfound power changed him.
Progeny being the Scholar's nemesis makes good sense, based on his described power-palette and I am certainly curious to see whether it is the big hulking silver dude that has been seen crawling out of the ground in Parse's deck.
It's a question of whose alchemy is better? In addition The Scholar has multiple damage types he is able to do from his cards and even if he doesn't have one of those in hand he just heal up instead.
PTers don't get much backstory (if any at all) on new characters. I am just as pumped for the backstory on these characters (villains especially) as everyone else. The stuff about Deadline in that podcast was really really interesting, especially being kinda connected to the 2nd environment. I. Can't. Wait.
