People may not be interested in this, and it may turn out horribly, (in fact it will probably go terribly wrong, but I'm all for that since it should be a fun sort of wrong) but I thought I'd give it a go, because it could be fun:
Sentinels Deckbuilding
Each hero builds a 40-card deck out of cards from other hero decks. There are three restrictions on this:
1) You may not use more cards than exist in one copy of the game (so no filling a deck with Eyes on the Prizes, for example).
2) You may not use cards from more than four hero decks.
3) Two player decks may not use cards from the same hero.
Themed decks are nice, but not required. And obviously references to a particular hero on hero cards get changed to whichever hero you're using, and the same with the villains.
The first rule should be fairly self-explanatory, the third is so that Impromptu Invention, Eye on the Prize, etc. don't appear in every single deck. The third is mostly to stop one player from hogging most of the heroes. Your character card should belong to one of the heroes your deck is built out of. All heroes and promos up to and including Vengeance are fair game. As for your opposition, I'm going to let the environment be neutral, and I shall be building a deck for Apostate (using no more than four villain decks).
If you're interested, claim whichever heroes you want and start building! You don't have to post a deck list; that's all on the honour system.
Curses! I was going to choose Fixer! I was totally going get Wraith and Fixer, so that way I could get Jack handle, Throwing Knives, and Micro-Targeting Computer, that way I could deal all non-targets 3 damage, 3 times!
Would combining Haka and Bunker get you The Juggernaut?
Hmm. I think I can come up with something:
Will start with Ra character card; and Ra and AZ decks initially. That might be enough since the fire/cold theme is solidly there.
I will be interested in what someone does with Tachyon, and moreso with Nightmist. Both seem solidly themed , and for the latter you'd need [red] numbers for non-Nightmist cards unless they are default [zero]. Unless you're hitting the Nightmist deck solely for defensive cards or equipment I guess.
I was thinking of a Scholar with big counterpunches. His main problem, for me, is usually not being able to draw and play enough cards. Tachyon and Eternal Haka can give him great card draw and Tachyon can let him play a lot more cards. Now I can get Alchemical Redirection and Expect the Worst out in the same turn! Plus Haka of Restoration with Mortal Form to Energy.
Hmm... Haka and Parse... 3 Critical Multipliers in play, Haka uses Haka of Battle, discards 20 cards, gets plus 80 to his next damage! I like that a lot.
Ok. I have a deck. My character card is The Naturalist. I'm using him, Scholar, Tachyon, Haka. Theoretically, he's got some serious tanking capability. We'll see how it works out.
Ra, AZ, Chrono-Ranger decks. I dipped into the last mainly for Jim's Hat, Displaced Armory, and Eye on the Prize. Plus a few bounties - but no good way to fish them out.
I suspect that the deck might be trying to do too much and thus will not do anything well. I also want to test to see how well it can cycle one-shots in a turn since I don't think it has a monster one-hit kill capability. I went more towards the plinking approach than the AZ "kill myself to kill you" style.
grysqrl - The Naturalist, The Scholar, Tachyon, Haka
grysqgl is finished, Oaktree wants to test his, not sure about the other two. A fifth player is still welcome, though not required.
Any thoughts on environment? I was thinking Silver Gulch, just as a place where nothing hugely swingy happens (save for Lost in the Past, but that's deal-with-able).
