Hey folks it's me again with another thread , this time it's about the new game coming out next year . A user named WalkingTarget made a archetypes/equivalents for the new characters , I just want to know if you agree or not .
Bowman - archer with trick arrows - Green Arrow/Hawkeye
Captain Thunder - "leader" type, flight + strength + electricity powers, so I guess Legacy if based on was Captain Marvel instead of Superman?
Daedalus - the actual Daedalus from Greek myth - has invented an anti-gravity battle suit and is the team's inventor/technician type. Iron Man?
Dr. Metropolis - "Spirit of Cities" able to alter urban environments, so like if the Spectre was a civil engineer/city planner?
Johnny Rocket - speedster, so Tachyon/Flash/Quicksilver
Lady Liberty - powered by the "Light of Liberty" and has super strength, like many of these it's a legacy character with the "light" being passed from person to person. Wonder Woman/Captain America mashup?
Siren - Voodoo loa of the sea - weather/sea powers so Storm/Tempest + Hydroman?
Star Knight - Space cop so I guess Nova/Green Lantern?
Argo the Ultimate Android - construct that can copy super powers, so Ultron+Super Skrull?
Hades - the actual Greek god, probably Deadalus' nemesis - works through intermediaries, so I'm imagining a minion heavy deck like Citizen Dawn or Grand Warlord Voss.
The Meta-Mind - hive-mind ruler of Pseudo's people, so maybe the Kree Supreme Intelligence?
Omega - seems to be some kind of cosmic big bad ruling some alternate dimension (Terminus). Darkseid/Thanos?
I disagree with all of them for obvous reasons , it's just one of the things that dont like about this fanbase . I wont rant or anything to not have people attack me or get this locked or both but I will say that it just screams ignorance to a degree .
I am genuinely curious what those obvious reasons are?
I personally find the equivalents to be pretty spot on, at least in the context of their 'power types' (disregarding the power origins / character backstory because to get 100% match in that respect would be impractical). But I am not a comic enthusiast by any great measure so perhaps I am not appreciating the nuances you are seeing.
It seems pretty obvious to me that Argo is an Amazo/Awesome Andy tribute. Aside from that the rest seem pretty close.
Your reasons for disagreeing are not at all obvious so perhaps you could actually explain your position instead of simply announcing that everyone who disagrees with you is ignorant…
I don't know the setting or source material enough to say yay or nay on it. Since you feel it's a nay I also would be curious if you would please share what you think the comparisons should be.
Haven't we done this before? Someone posts a list of archetypes then the poster says he doesn't like them and insults anyone who disagrees with him? Let's not do that again, please.
Here's my issue, as somebody who has mostly stayed out of the entire SoEP discussion: In this thread, you have given no information to support your contention, and yet you say your position is obvious.
Defend your assertion, and then we have a place for discussion to begin that isn't simply talking past each other.
You don’t want to cause trouble? You say the list “screams ignorance”, basically calling the maker of the list and anyone who agrees with it ignorant. You refuse to support your opinion but claim your reasons are obvious. So those of us who don’t see your reasons are what? Stupid? Also ignorant? Somehow inferior to you, in any case, to not see something so “obvious”.
You can claim innocence as many times as you want but your entire OP is passive-aggressively insulting everyone that disagrees with you while simultaneously using “not wanting trouble” as an excuse to not bother explaining or defending your own position.
