Slaughterhouse Six abandon battlefield after allies defeated?

So this actually came up while I was playing the video game, but my question has to do with the text of Ambuscade's card itself.

I was playing a game against La Capitan, Slaughterhouse Six Ambuscade and Greazer with Chrono-Ranger, Wraith, and The Scholar. The Scholar ended up with Living Paycheck, and I quickly took out La Capitan. After a long fight I got Ambuscade out too, but I hadn't managed to knock out the rest of the Six yet, so they were all in the fight. A few things went bad and my heroes all got down to about 6 hp, and then I saw it was going to be impossible for me to get through the turn without someone taking full damage from Desert Eagle and getting incapacitated. I had a choice, so I threw it at the Scholar, figuring that I'd at least get Greazer out of the fight too.

I was surprised when I immediately won the game.

I'd never interpreted the way Slaughterhouse Six Ambuscade's incap worked this way, but reading over the text of it, it doesn't actually SAY that the fight isn't over until all Nemeses are defeated, just that they remain in his play area. So now I'm wondering: is the way the video game works correct? If the 'big name' villains leave the field, do the Slaughterhouse Six retreat or give up or something? It seems that way from the actual text of the card!

Or is this a bug and the way the fight is meant to go is to defeat the entire group? If so, it seems like the card wording itself isn't clear about that.

Hello.

This isn't a bug, the rules say if all villains (characters, I am not talking about any villain targets) are defeated you win the game.

Therefore I always try to beat Ambuscade at last as his incap ability won't activate and the game will be won.

EDIT: Typo

Yeah, there would have to be wording on Ambuscade's character card. Something along the lines of Omnitron, who expicitly says the game can't be won until there are no devices in play. Since there isn't the remainder of the Six presumably beat a hasty retreat when they see that they don't have Greazer as backup anymore.

Thematically the interaction references Ambuscade not really being there, but also that the Slaughter House Six without the illusion of Ambuscade or another bigger villain involved the Six aren't really going to stick around to get clobbered.

Yeah, Glamour aside, they're all small-time villains, and they know if the bigger fish have gone down, they don't stand a chance.

Or you could say that without the distractions of the bigger threats the heroes quickly wrap up the rest of the six in short order
