I love O-X, and I really like playing as him, but this card baffles me. Can someone give me an example of this card as an effective play where it would be better to play this card rather than just play the card you were going to play? Is it mainly just used to give you an extra power?
It also makes for great bait when you're dealing with card destruction.
Since it also at the end of your turn you'll draw a card before it activates. So maybe Slip through time was the best you have at the time, so you want to see if you can draw something better to play. It'll allow you to have a chance to draw something and then immediately play that something. All while using two powers this round.
That's true. It took my group a while before we figured that out during playtesting. We never had much luck using the additional power until Bio-Engineering Beam was fully realized.
Ah, I see, so it's a chance to use the card you draw at the end. Makes sense. At first I just saw it as a way to get an additional power since you sacrifice a play on it. But it's not like O-X is very short of playing cards, with both Electro-Deployment Units. I guess Slip Through Time's function is kinda niche, but it can be nice bait for ongoing sacrifices. I need to play him more--I want to drop a Self-Sabotage, Singularity, and Reset combo. That sounds like a ton of fun.
I haven't utilized his other powers, though. I usually focus on playing all of his components.
In addition to what you just described, it's also fun to flip it when OX uses his power on himself... (Assuming you have another card to play and/or a second power to use, of course.)
I've used this one to play and use a Bio-Engineering Beam I'd just drawn...think I took out the "Unforgiving Wasteland" (something like that) card from the Final Wasteland with it.
It also gives you another Ongoing card to sacrifice to effects like the Demure Office Worker or Matriarch's cohorts.
Funny thing, guys. Just played as Omnitronks last night, and I used Slip Through Time twice as ongoing destruction bait (against La Capitan). So yeah, good advice on this. Helped out a lot.
Didn't help me when I was targeted by both Battle Forged and Captain's orders for most of the game and died really quickly.
Just one extra use I thought I'd mention....
When there's good damage buffing out and/or you REALLY need something dead NOW, I use Slip Through Time to pull off both Rocket Punches (they're not limited) in a single round. Without buffing, and ignoring your components, it's still 6 damage in a round, but for each +1 damage, you increase that by 4, so with Inspiring Presnce, Galvanize, and maybe something from the environment, it can get gross pretty quick.
Slip Through Time seems like could be a really useful card if you get another hero to stack the next card you draw.
Like reclaim from the deep to get a plating so you can discard it for one of those attacks is one combo I see.
heh, I'm not the only one who calls him that?
It seems to be a trend on the forums these days. Our group is fond of O-X and Little O (with Omnitron being Big O, of course).
