I watched the character creation and Combat simulator but stopped the video so I would not be spoiled on the story
the bank robbery tutorial is not story

If it helps, Nookrium spends most of the time on one battle.  You can watch from 29:48 to to 1:25:21 spoiler-free.  And I personally don't feel like there was any story to speak of before that other than the tutorial.  Haven't finished watching the rest yet.
