Some questions after playing first game with Shattered Timelines

I got Shattered Timelines a few days ago. It's the first expansion I got. I've read that Rook City and Infernal Relics will be combined into one box later, so I'll get those then.

Anyways, I played a solo game with Omnitron-X, Tempest, and Tachyon against La Capitan.

1. Tachyon had a Synaptic Interruption in play and was dealt 3 damage by La Capitan. I chose to use and destroy Synaptic Interruption to redirect that damage to La Capitan (Time Corsair). Does Synaptic Interruption go under La Capitan's character card or in Tachyon's trash?

2. Omnitron-X's Rocket Punch reads "Omnitron-X deals 1 target 2 projectile damage. Omnitron-X May deal 1 target 1 projectile Damage" Can this be used as 2 instances of damage on 1 target? It's not worded like Tempest's Chain Lightning or Bunker's Grenade Launcher ("may" and "second/third/fourth").

3. If I used Tempest's Ball Lightning to destroy a target and 2 of Maria Helena's Revenge ongoing cards were in play, could I destroy both of them before they deal each hero H minus 1 psychic damage? "You may destroy up to 2 ongoing cards" is written after and below (like separate paragraphs) the deal 1 target 4 damage...so I was wondering if that makes a difference at all.

Thanks for helping and hopefully these answers will clarify similar situations and help others too.

1. That's actually I good question...

2. It can in fact be used on the same target.

3. 4 damage would have to be dealt first, which if that destroys a target then Maria Helena's Revenge will interrupt and do it's damage. Then Ball Lightning can destroy the Ongoings.

Same boat here.  I've also got the mini-expansions, did you know about those?

It was not "destroyed by a villain card", but by itself, so it would go to your trash (and be a Burst therein).

I'm semi-certain that's a "no", but I could be mistaken.  The same logic in either case would also apply to the Terrible Tech-Strike of Chrono-Ranger.

You always execute all of a card's instructions in the order written, so first you deal 4 damage to a target, and completely resolve all effects thereof, including death triggers from a target killed by the damage.  Only then, when all aftereffects of the damage are cleared, do you move on to destroy Ongoings.  (And only then, after all aftereffects of that are cleared, do you put Ball Lightning in the trash; this is effectively an invisible last line of rules text on all One-Shot cards.)

Thanks!

Another question...after dealing instances of damage to La Capitan when she is Split Across Time, do I choose which card I want to put back in the appropriate trash, or is it done by shuffling or some other random method? I assume each instance of damage (regardless of how much) puts one card under La Capitan back in one of my trashes, unless I missed something and have been playing it wrong.

Yes, I got the mini-expansions, except for The Final Wasteland. They were out of stock on GTG store.

If you happen to live in Minneapolis, there's a copy at Universe games.  I'd probably better get down there soon and pick it up for my friend who lacks the more modern cards.

Answers:

1.  Synaptic destroys itself, so it does not go under La Capitan.

2.  It can be used against the same target.  You are correct about the wording difference.

3.  Card text is resolved in order, so you could not do the destruction first.

4.  You can choose which card to take out from under her.

Congrats on all your new toys, I remember when I got them all, good times.

I agree with the other replies, but this one hasn't been answered yet:

Yes, that's correct. (Except I guess it has to be more than 0 damage.)

Rather makes me wish there were more cards that dealt multiple damage instances.  If hero decks ever gain extra cards, I'd like to see Bunker gain a Vulcan cannon which deals 1 projectile damage, 1 projectile damage, and 1 projectile damage to one target.

GtG has already said that there will not be cards added to the existing decks.

I didn't really expect it to come from >G; there had been a suggestion of a fan project at one point, originally revolving around making one more Instrument for Argent Adept's deck (in his backstory, there was one that had been destroyed just before he came along, so they were speculating on if someone went back in time or something and saved it).  So I was just riffing on that idea a little more.

Envisioner, you live in Minneapolis?  I do too  :open_mouth:

Get out! The post are coming from inside your house!

Can you get to Universe Games on Lake Street and Bryant Avenue?  Would love to meet up for a 2-P game, as I've only done this twice, both in my first ten games out of nearly fifty to date.

Yeah, that's not too far.  Like 10 minutes-ish.  I've actually never been in there, but I always see it when driving down Lake St.  I definitely can't do any games during this week, because of my crazy busy evening schedule.  But sometime next week I'd be up for a Sentinels meet up.  Or even over the weekend.

Universe is only barely open on Sundays, but Saturday should be fine (as long as you don't need me to get up before noon, or even shortly after it), this week or a future one.  I should however check to make sure they don't have an event scheduled that will fill up all the tables.

Oh gotcha.  Yeah some Saturday late afternoon should work swell.  Not sure about this coming one yet; some friends from out of town might be visiting Friday and Saturday, but we'll figure something out.

A request - if done as a G+ Hangout, could it be a Hangout on Air so that those of us unable to attend can watch it later?

Hey, folks - if you’re going to schedule meet-ups (which are highly encouraged! ), please start up a thread (or two) in the Events forum. That lets folks paying attention to different areas see what they’re expecting. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks!

Done!
